Disaster Story! The staff was worse than a living nightmare. The man taking our order was less than 14 inches from us, face to face, in fact even leaning in towards us, and his voice was painfully loud. It was shocking. We made sure to situate ourselves at the far end of the place to sit, talk, drink our coffee and have a chocolate chip cookie. Even at 25 feet away from this employee, who managed to do at least a half dozen more things to be excruciatingly irritating, - (he actually served me my coffee, and then for no apparent reason took it back, spilled it all out in the sink, and started again, making excessive noise with his loud 'outdoor' voice the whole time), - even at a distance of 25 feet, this person was so LOUD that we were unable to hear each other in conversation at our table. Two mild mannered businessmen, sitting across from one another, no more than 18 inches apart, could not hear each other because of how loud the employee was, who was 25 feet away! Take a minute to grasp that. I drove 30 miles to be with a dear friend and associate, we had a beautiful early dinner at Fish Grill first, and came to this horror story of a coffee shop to wind down with two coffees and finish up our conversation. The level of interruption and disruption from the noise of this one man is not possible to even describe. The two of us made every effort to ignore the obvious but it was not possible to ignore it, still we showed no indication of the utter disgust and disappointment about what we were being subjected to as a result of our unfortunate decision to pick this place, The French Press Coffee Roasters, on Kennedy Blvd in Lakewood. Finally, nearing the end of our visit, with the noise getting increasingly and progressively LOUDER as our visit went on, - not quieter, but LOUDER, - I simply made a "shhhh" sound to see if we could get this guy to quiet down. That resulted in a response from his co-worker and buddy, who thought the correct reaction was to berate me, and try to escalate hostilities with us, belligerently telling us it was a coffee shop, and people "talk" in a coffee shop. I agree that people talk in a coffee shop and that is all the more reason why the help should avoid sounding like they are in the stadium for the final inning of game seven of the World Series, making so much noise that the people who 'talk in a coffee shop' can't even hear each other while leaning over a table, 18 inches away from one another, and 25 feet away from the...
Read moreA place like this should sell fresh pastries but they're not they're all from the freezer, my cheese muffin was actually rock solid ice inside, what a shame and scam, also they have tasteless espresso, people have no clue how espresso should taste so they give good reviews but anyone that has ever tasted good coffee will be shocked how bad their cappuccinos and lattes are, they are literally tasteless. You see on their menu" home baked pastry", don't be fooled and think that they make it themselves, they are either defrosted or par baked and they just finished it...
