If you're going for kosher dairy food in Lakewood, this place is probably one of two good places in the area. Difference here is that these guys know dough and pizza, which means their pizzas (and dessert calzones) will be great.
We went on a busy weekend and they had both indoor and outdoor seating. Pizzas were great, and some very funky. There's one with onion rings and bbq sauce, another with mini mozzarella sticks (which is basically just cheese on cheese), and more with roasted cauliflower or broccoli under some more cheese. My advice here is really to try and stick with the stuff with tomato sauce. Would be nice if they incorporated arugula or truffle like some of the more modern NYC Italian restaurants do.
Appetizers is where it's at. We didn't try fries, but we did try the tuna tostadas (fish seemed pretty fresh and it was kind of like a crunchy rice), and the nachos (really good and cheesy). This place probably ain't a great idea if you're lactose intolerant. For dessert you definitely want to try the nutella/oreo calzone. Save room.
Some minor issues I had was that the service was pretty lacking. Waiters didn't care to properly serve customers and seemed to have an impatient attitude. People that came to bring extra utensils didn't take back our dirty dishes, and for the second half of the meal our table was full of dirty plates. Also the bathroom was used as storage for other stuff, was not clean, and the camera to flush the toilet didn't work. They should put some more money into the staff, clean bathrooms a bit better, and maybe install camera systems for better management. Just...
Read moreThe food was decent. I would not recommend going here for the outside dining experience. I wouldn’t even step within six feet of the building. Last week I came her with my family for their outside dining experience. There was only one outside table. Everybody was sitting inside without masks on or social distancing. There was a long line out the door of people standing on top of each other without masks on. Even though there are two doors, everyone was exiting from the door where the line was, trying to squeeze through.
The staff is not wearing gloves. The orders got mixed up and the waiter is going table to table asking everyone if they ordered pizza. Once they seat you they hand you sticky non wiped menus. The utensils were sticky as well, I ended up using plastic. They brought us extra plates to share our food. When they took away the ones we didn’t use that were sitting on our table for ten minutes. I watched as they put them right back on the shelves with the clean plates.
I decided to watch one of the bus boys clean a table after the customers at the table across from us left. He shows up at the table with a bus pan he is not wearing an gloves and proceeds to clear the table picking up, crumbs, pieces of food that fell on the table, and old used napkins with his bare hands. I saw him hand the bus pan to another worker and start setting the table without wiping it down. After I saw him hand new customers menus without washing his hands and seat them at this unclean table. I decided to get...
Read moreIt has been a while since I dined at this fine kosher dairy resturaunt, but there good memories promoted me to write this review. This restaurant is located in the heart of Lakewood, NJ. It is right off the highway, so you can visit on your way in and out. What makes The upper crust unique is that they are an upscale establishment in the form of a casual and cozy eatery. You gotta come check out their huge selection of homemade pizzas, pasta dishes, and yummy desserts. The staff is quick and efficient, especially during the busy dinner hours. The portions are big enough to share, and the meal wont break your bank. I highly recommend checking them out, as I also plan on returning in the near future. Here is what we got: Appetizers were great, although the mac and cheese bites were underwhelming. They tasted great, but I expected them to be cheesier. The nachos were fantastic. They have several kinds of nachos but I recommend the standard type. We got a side of brocolli, and it was well seasoned. If you want to balance your meal, try one of their salads. The best part was the dessert. I got a cookie dough taco, and it was as delicious as it sounds. Warm cookie dough with ice cream, and it was beautifully plated. Next time I come I hope to try more of...
