My family ate here for the first time, and I'm torn on how many stars to give it, because there were as many pros as cons, so I'll go with three...
I was impressed with how clean the kitchen was! I've worked in a kitchen before and I know how greasy those hood vents get. So to see them sparkling like they were brand new was impressive. The hostess and our waitress were both very friendly and nice, but a more experienced waitress would have asked follow-up questions when I expressed my disappointment in the chicken parmesan. When our waitress asked how our food was, I said I was not impressed with their chicken parm, she said "I'm sorry about that" and then turned and walked away. Bottom line, unless they change the recipe, don't order the chicken parm. It tastes like a giant pre-made frozen chicken nugget had a scoop of marinara and a thick layer of cheese over it and then baked. Does not taste like they bread and fry the chicken there in house. No prosciutto, No bruschetta, so plain and flavorless and cheap tasting, but not cheaply priced. The meat sauce on the spaghetti had no detectable meat, also disappointing.
The flavor of the pizza was very good! I wish there was a little bit of cheese on top of the toppings to keep them from falling off cuz every time you picked up your slice half of the toppings would just roll right off, but the flavor was some of the best pizza I've had in a long time. But $20 for a small pizza is kind of pricey. The restaurant was clean, the staff seemed to be handling the amount of customers well. I would definitely return if I heard they improved...
Read moreWe have dined at Casa Mia for years and it has always been fabulous. I do not know what happened this last time. We walked in and 3 young women servers were standing by the cash register, one of them chewing a wad of gum very noisily. One of them finally looks at us and says how many? We got there just ahead of 2 large parties of young teenagers. My daughter ordered her usual lasagna. When her order arrived, I was a shocked. It looked like a lasagna pizza. Probably 1/3 the usual size. The sauces were not the same and the amount about 1/2 the usual. The server forgot to bring us bread. By the time the bread arrived we were done with our meal. The pizza my husband ordered was also subpar. My husband ate only 2 slices. The next day my daughter tried eating leftovers and could not finish her piece, she said the sauce tasted "gross". I would have immediately said something to the server immediately but my teenager begged me not to. There were two large groups of a boys basketball team by then and she didn't want to be embarrassed. As we left the same server still had her wad of gum in her mouth, chewing with her mouth wide open. First time I have been so disappointed. Love this place and will certainly go again, maybe, hopefully this was a one...
Read moreI really wanted to like Casa Mía, especially with its nice sign and balloons welcoming Washington Track and Field State Championships participants—unfortunately, that was the highlight of the visit.
I ordered the manicotti in a butter cream sauce, and it was honestly inedible. It arrived drowning in what seemed like a full cup of straight butter poured over the top. It wasn’t a sauce—it was a greasy pool that made the entire dish unpleasant. I wish I had thought to take a picture. My daughter had the chicken parm, and it wasn’t any better. The chicken was bland and soggy, with a strange texture that didn’t sit right.
Some members of our party had pizza, which seemed okay—definitely better than the pasta dishes, but still nothing to write home about. We did appreciate that there was a gluten-free pizza option.
The manicotti and chicken parm were supposed to come with a choice of soup or salad, but our waitress never asked for our preference and never brought either. While she was friendly, the service overall was slow considering how few people were in the restaurant.
We left disappointed, still hungry, and wondering how a place could serve food like this. Definitely not worth the price...
