Aloha, bruddaz & sistaz!
I'm often mistaken as Hawaiian/Polynesian. People even think I resemble Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. A water-retentive, meth-addicted, bath salt-snortin Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, but it's still "The Rock" so I take it as a compliment. ;P
The Loft has always had high praise from the locals around my hood. I've had their take-out before, but never dined in. BOGO 1/2 off coupon in hand, and a-here we go!
The Loft has booth & table seating. We chose the booth and glancing at the tables in the middle of the restaurant, they seemed rather cramp. A flatscreen TV had a sports news program on, but w/o sound. Hawaiian music (duh) was piped in, giving us the Aloha spirit as we perused the menu.
Our choices-
Korean BBQ plate - The portions are big! The Korean BBQ was sweet & tasty. It wasn't a tender cut of meat, but that's not a bad thing. The potato salad was creamy & refreshing, the rice moist & the salad crunchy & delicious.
Lau Lau & Lomi Lomi Salmon - "Echo" The portions are big! The pork wrapped in taro leaf was tender, smoky & succulent. The taro leaf added sharpness to the dish. I wasn't feeling the Lomi Lomi, however. I thought it was more tomato, less salmon. It should be labelled Lomi Lomi Tomato to be accurate. More salmon, please!
I could only finish half of my plate, with the rest doggybagged & waiting to be devoured tonight. My membership to the Clean Plate Club will probably get revoked, darn it! I loved going the Clean Plate Club Elite events for light bites & comraderie ;P
Dessert option Jello Cheesecake slice, cut in half-This was the highlight of the meal for me. I'm not a big fan of raspberry flavoring, but the brightness of the raspberry cut into the sweetness, making for flavor w/ more complexity. The cheescake was sinfully delicious & the almond crust was cookie crumbled perfection. I'm a fan, for sure.
Service-Good. Our waters were refilled & plates taken away promptly. No complaints.
In summation, I loved my dining experience here at The Loft. I live very close & The Loft may be seeming more of this "The Rock" lookalike ;P
Highly recommend you stop by & give this place a...
Read moreDuring a recent visit to a local restaurant, I had an experience that left me with mixed feelings. The prices on the menu were comparable to other eateries, and the food offerings were quite basic, which I didn't mind as I was looking for a simple meal.
However, the first hiccup arose when the food took a bit longer than expected to arrive. While I understand that busyness can affect preparation times, waiting more than 10 minutes for my order was a tad disappointing. Moreover, upon the eventual arrival of the food, I was greeted with a burnt portion on my plate. Everything else seemed fine, but the burnt food was definitely a letdown.
The server, who seemed to be the same person who initially took my order, offered to replace the burnt item with something else, like teriyaki chicken or spam. I opted for the teriyaki chicken, expecting a quick resolution. Unfortunately, the replacement dish never materialized. Taking matters into my own hands, I approached the server to inquire about the delay. She did apologize and even offered a refund, which was appreciated, but I also noticed that the cleanliness of the place could have been better.
Amidst the confusion, the server went to fetch the teriyaki chicken, insisting that I take it despite my reservations. This gesture was kind, though by this point, I wasn't very keen on the chicken anymore. The incident highlighted some issues with communication, food quality, and efficiency within the restaurant. While the attempt to make amends was made, the overall experience left room for improvement.
In the end, my visit to this restaurant was marked by a series of ups and downs, showcasing both potential and areas for growth. It's clear that there's room to enhance customer service, food quality, and overall management. If the restaurant addresses these aspects, it could provide a more enjoyable dining experience for...
