Mamma's Sushi and Shabu — Restaurant in Lakewood

I was lookIng for a sushi place around bellflower to treat a client. Based on the Yelp high review, I chose Mama's.

I studied the menu before going there since this is the first time in order to make sure I select the good stuff for my client.

For lunch, I ordered dinner sashimi (~$20) as an appetizer for beer. At the same time, I ordered two lunch combos; for me Teri beef and Tempura, for my client Salmon and Tempura.

Dinner sashimi never came and two lunch combo were served first. I questioned about the sashimi order and my server confirmed the order was not put in to sushi chef. She ensured me it would be ready shortly.

I was very disappointed for three reasons;

Server's mistake of not double checking the order with chef Sashimi was very poor quality for the price; paper thin slices, artificial color of raw tuna Teri beef was so tough (it was like beef jerky). If I was the cook, I would throw away and never served such overcooked meat to customers

Perhaps, they may be good for other dishes but I would not go back to this restaurant.

For the future customer, don't trust most of the Yelp reviews, and don't expect too much from...

The restaurant now carries a "B" from the health inspector, and I must regrettably agree; food smears decorated the floor, with broken chopsticks accenting the unwashed tiles. I ordered a spider roll, a classic from the menu, and it arrived barely formed; the nori did not wrap around the roll, and it was poorly packed. The spider roll crumbled into a spider roll salad on its way from the bar to the table.

We requested another roll from the chefs, and they laughed at the request (Sushi bar, so you can see the chefs). They formed another that also fell apart. They also attempted to overcharge me by trying to sell me a double order on some sashimi; the ticket was written correctly, so I can only assume some kind of miscommunication.

I used to love this restaurant, but I must advise against eating here until they clean up. I see the other positive reviews here, so I have difficulty reconciling those with my experience... but perhaps the early evening crew are...

Over all it was terrible. when we got there they told us a 15 minute wait and it turned into 30. After, we finally got in we waited another for 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order and the drink came around 10 minutes later. so after that we wait another 10 minutes to someone to come and take our order my parents ordered shabu shabu but it didn't look appetizing to me so I instead ordered a teriyaki bowl.After, 20 minutes my parents finally got there the broth to the shabu shabu but the meat Hadn't come out and the sushi hadn't either so one of my parents went to call over a waiter because my food and my brother's was taking really really long. But when he tried to talk to someone they brushed him off so we decided to leave because of how absolutely bad this...
