Dirty dishes from previous visitors sat cold on empty tables. Customers have no where to bus tables, and staff left tables messy for new customers to clear off before we could sit down. My father and I had to clear off a table and wipe it down ourselves before we could sit down.
There was one table that wasn't messy, as it had chairs placed on top of the table, as if staff never put the chairs back on the floor once they opened.
It is located in a former Taco Bell, so you order at the counter. This gives the illusion that service will be fast and efficient. It is neither. Once we ordered at the counter it took twenty(ish) minutes to get our food.
We ordered tamarind sweet drink, pork pupusas, and chicken tamales, "Made Porto Rican style," said the good looking young man behind the counter.
Later on my father would joke that the speed of staff is equally Puerto Rican-style. Translation: slow. Anticipate visible signs of aging as you await your meal.
Pupusas were good, but not nearly as flavorful as the only other pupusa restaurant I'm a regularly at, which is Pupusa Lover on Colorado Boulevard. I was stoked to find a pupusa restaurant on this part of town, but that excitement has been...
Read moreMy husband & I stopped in this place last Saturday and we were quite disappointed. You can tell it's a family owned & run business.
The man & young gal behind the counter never acknowledged us for about 10 min, people were standing waiting to be helped.
Once we placed our order, it took another 10 minutes to get our drinks and having me ask for them again and being asked again what kind of drinks we ordered? 🤦🏻♀️
We sat at the table and began to wonder how long our order would take as we had now been waiting 15 minutes now when I asked the guy how much longer and he proceeded to ask me what we ordered!!!
Seriously, no sense of what they are doing or how things are suppose to run. I know this because I grew up working in my fathers 2 very successful restaurants here in Wheat Ridge & Brighton, Colorado.
The pupusas we ordered, chorizo & chicharron were nothing to what I expected. Turns out they make the meat like baby food pate style!! No flavor or taste of meat at all!!
For the price, save your money and don't bother...
Read moreSpontaneously stopped in for PUPUSAS PARADISE today. Greeted warmly. Unfamiliar with the pupusas I decided to try something simple. Ayote Con Queso (zucchini and cheese) pupusa. And a side order of tortillas. Approximately nine dollars with tip. Set myself near the window with a good view of Wadsworth. Table service provided water. 15 to 20 minute wait, common for establishment. Seating can feel limited if busy. Pupusa is served with a side of pickled coleslaw and tomato salsa. Two tortillas (maiz) served with manteca. Started off by opening tortillas and stuffing them with the butter. Taste delicious! Proceeded to taste zucchini and cheese pupusa, Deliciously melted combination of shredded zucchini in cheese encrusted in corn tortilla. Absolutely phenomenal!!! I would definitely recommend this place. Stop in and try it...
