Sushi Katsu and I go back many years. I used to work right across the street from the Havana location. Back then it was yet still undiscovered. I could set up my laptop and work for a couple of hours and enjoy an inexpensive sushi lunch. Since then they have gained a reputation for having reasonably priced high-quality sushi! The place filled up, they expanded and filled up again. They have opened up to chain locations. The manager who works on site keeps an eye on everybody and keeps that flow rolling. You can tell that he has a great relationship with everyone on staff. Amazingly he can make sushi never looking at his hands. He's always keeping an eye on the customers and their needs. My family and I enjoy all three locations in Denver. The one on Arapahoe Road has a lively and bright atmosphere. The one in Lakewood has wood paneling and a little bit more of a chill vibe. A few years ago when poke restaurants were opening up all around town, sushi Katsu added their own poke menu. I think they have the best poke in town, even better than all of the poke chains. Most of those poke chains have gone out of business but sushi Katsu is still here. We enjoy upgrading from the lunch menu to the dinner menu so that we can have the salmon roe, rainbow roll, and seaweed salad. I brought my sister one time and she is not allowed to eat raw food. They did an amazing job of identifying a list of fully cooked foods on the menu and serving them on separate plates clearly labeled. She felt comfortable with their process. She had never really eaten sushi before, so this was really quite a treat! I like to eat a lot of vegetables and usually you can't get very many at a sushi restaurant. But here you can get the salad, miso soup, edamame, the poke served on a bed of vegetables, avocado roll, vegetable roll, and really come out having eaten quite a few vegetables. One of my kids loves salmon and it's just really nice to go to and all you can eat place like this where you can let a young man eat like 12 or 14 pieces of salmon all included. Another one of my kids loves the eel and particularly with the homemade eel sauce they have. My husband loves variety and boy they have an amazing variety on their menu. It's always clean, fresh, fast, and delicious! The only bad thing about it is we get so spoiled that it's hard to go anywhere...
Read moreThis was our first time at this Sushi Katsu location. I've been to the other 2 locations before and I wish we would've went to one of those instead of this location. The sushi was great, as always, but the service was horrible. The only good thing about the service was a gentleman named Cody. He wasn't even our server, but made such a great effort to try and fix all the issues we'd been having and it helped. To start off, we got our entire order messed up and it got delivered to another table, and then we got another tables order. We told our server that we thought it was wrong and she said it was right because one of the rolls had avocado in it. Well, no, it was wrong after all and Cody confirmed it was wrong after we flagged him down a few minutes later. And not just one roll was wrong, it was our entire order. Cody said we didn't have to eat any of the pieces that were wrong and that he'd get our correct order brought out. Finally got our correct order and then not even 5 minutes after, we got another roll dropped off that we didn't even order! I felt really bad for whichever table was supposed to get that roll and the whole order before that too. So through no fault of our own, our order got all messed up. On top of that, our actual server only checked on us twice the whole time we were there, and that was only because we had to waive her down. Cody was way more helpful and went out of his way to make sure we were all taken care of even though he had his own tables to help. Overall, very dissatisfied with this Sushi Katsu location and probably won't be back to this one. If you come here, just be prepared for things like that to possibly happen. Good date night, poor choice...
Read moreWe came in a couple weeks ago to try out their “all you can eat sushi” for lunch. The restaurant is nice and the food is okay. Our biggest issue was the service from some of the wait staff. We had a few questions about particular items on the menu and asked what they consisted of since there was no description and our waitress literally just repeated the name of the item back to us when “describing it.” We also asked for a beverage and she told us she didn’t have it, we looked over to the drink wall next to us and pointed it out. She then hesitantly told us she did have it. Our food came in a timely manner. The sushi chefs were very hard working and efficient. We were missing a few items and then tried to get the attention of another staff person, we yelled out to her several times and she completely ignored us. Another waiter (not our waitress)saw what happened and did come assist us. Towards the end of our meal, we decided to get some of their dessert cake. They had 3 flavor options, green tea, mocha and taro. We asked the waitress to describe what taro tastes like- since we’ve never had it. She looked at us and told us, “it’s purple” we again explained that we do not know what taro is but we’re curious on the taste. She then told us, “it’s purple” I told her I don’t know what the color purple tastes like so I went with a different flavor. We may try to come back to Sushi Katsu but not...
