As for the food, while I didn't get specific feedback on taste, the menu items mentioned (meat stew, fries, and samosas) suggest a focus on satisfying, possibly East African-inspired cuisine. These dishes typically offer a good balance of flavors and textures. Very flavorful food and a great array of cuisine.

Read moreI may not be an expert in Kenyan cuisine, but I do appreciate great-tasting food. When we arrived at the restaurant from Seattle, we initially expected a dine-in experience but quickly realized it operates as a commercial kitchen for takeout only.
I visited with a close Kenyan friend, who did most of the communication with the staff. The ordering process was smooth, and when we received our food, the inviting aroma heightened our anticipation. The presentation was impressive, and we were eager to dig in.
Unfortunately, the flavors fell short of our expectations. The food was surprisingly bland, and the potato/corn dish was slightly burned, giving it an unpleasant smoky taste. It was a disappointing experience overall.
For flavorful Kenyan cuisine, Lims remains the go-to spot. We’re looking forward to Tausi opening, which will give us another reason to travel back to Lakewood.
Lastly, we couldn’t ignore the fact that the person taking our order had a strong smell of alcohol. While we can't say for certain if this impacted the quality of the food, it left a negative impression. Based on our experience, we won’t...
Read moreI recently ordered from The Tribe Restaurant and Lounge through DoorDash and was excited to try their authentic Kenyan cuisine. I ordered the curry goat, collard greens, and beef sausages. The food was tasty, and I enjoyed the flavors, but there was an issue with one of the items. The beef sausages were pictured as four for $5, but I only received one sausage.
The delivery came in a regular shopping bag, tied up in a granny knot. I can’t help but wonder if the DoorDash driver helped themselves to the sausages. While the food was good overall, I had to take away a star for this experience. I would highly recommend that the restaurant consider sealing their bags to prevent any potential theft. It’s a small change that could make a big difference in the experience.
Overall, the food quality was good, but the packaging and delivery experience could use some improvements like sealing the bag or using paper bags with staples to prevent theft...
