Smokin’ Joe's BBQ — Restaurant in Lanett

Was in the area on a whim to pick up some lottery tickets, had to make a u-turn after I passed this place. Parking lot was full and that good smelling pit smoke had my full attention. Had to park next door for a Saturday afternoon late lunch and now I see why.

The place is a small, old school style BBQ joint with an order window & pickup window. The front has been added onto to allow a little bit of seating. Read the menu, order your food & pay, get a little buzzer and wait a couple of minutes for your food.

Ordered pulled pork sandwich, sausage sandwich & fries.

Fries were small crinkle cut type that were cooked right and had a decent bit of seasoned salt.

Pulled pork was good but more of a chunky, chopped style IMO. Slightly dry and no real taste of smoke. Sauce was like a sweetened ketchup.

The star of the show was the sausage sandwich or what I would call a sausage dog. Fresh out of the smoke and so plump that there wasn't even a wrinkle. It was HUGE! First bite had that snap that told you it was cooked right and it tasted great. Didn't need anything even though I did try adding a little bit of mustard, the sausage was fine without any.

All I can say is ya better go...

Stopped in Saturday afternoon. They were SUPER busy and with good reason.I ordered a whole slab of ribs. These ribs DO NOT NEED SAUCE!!!. They were perfectly seasoned, moist and tender. I also ordered the Q. I like my fries a little more crunchy when they're smothered, they were still delicious. As for atmosphere, it's a typical small bbq joint. You order at the window. Went to Smoking Joes at 3:25 got my buzzer which goes off when your food is ready, young lady told me 20 minutes on what I ordered. Went back to the window after 2 hrs which I knew they be pretty busy they had gave my food to another customer. If I would’ve finally asked being the other person out there and folks ordered when I had gone I would’ve gotten my food. Poor customer service. Can’t knock the food just very poor...
