I'm from LA, and I have had some great Mexican food in the past. We're dying to find a great authentic mexican restaurant in the East Central Alabama area or at least close to what you'll find in the SGV or North/Central of SF Valley area in LA. We decided to try the food at Tasqueria 2 Gallos De Oro last night. I must say that it was pretty good and close to what you'll get from the taco trucks in LA, which are mostly authentic. We tried the Carne Asada and Al Pastor Tacos and an oder of Flautas. They were both pretty good, but the Flautas were small, size of Taquitos. The restaurant looked great, it was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Just to note, it looks like the food may have Oaxaca, Mexico Region influence, good stuff. More Southern area of Mexico. It was a little pricey but not a deal breaker. I would recommend bringing it down a bit to attract more people to consider trying their food. Overall, I would give it a 4.5 star for the food we had last night because it was a little pricey and the Flautas were small. We would definitely come back and try other items on the menu like the Marisco dishes, and I think they also have Churros. Give this place a try if you like Mexican food and if you're...
Read moreThe restaurant is nice and the bathrooms are clean. That's where the positivity ends. This is not a restaurant that offers chips, which is fine, but when you order queso dip they also do not give you enough chips for it. We got a small queso and didn't even get to use chips for half of it. The al pastor is flavorless. The queso isn't great. The menu is confusing and the pictures don't match up to the items. The servers speak English, but lack comprehension skills. They didn't have change so we left a tip larger than was deserved, so that we weren't complete jerks that only leave the $2 in small bills that we had. To top off our negative experience, 30-45 mins after we left my Husband got violently ill and he never gets sick. When we pulled up we thought we had found a gem by the looks of the restaurant, we were wrong. I'd...
