The first time I walked into Fleetwood Diner I absolutely loved the whole vibe of the place. The servers were extremely helpful and always eager to help. Food was always brought to us in a timely matter and the waiters let us eat and enjoy our lunch. Now when I said enjoy my lunch I was a bit exaggerating ..the food was brought to us in a pretty decent time but the food itself wasn't what I expected at all. I ordered a steak med rare. I guess they thought that met completely cooked and more.. because there was nothing med. About it. And on top of that it was burnt, hard to chew and it had way too many seasonings on it. Along with the steak we or I ordered mashed potatoes that tastes like they were instant (which I personally can't stand), macaroni and cheese that was very hard and looked like it was a week old. The only decent thing I ordered and tasted good was the salad and courage cheese. We did tip the waitress after all she was not the one who made the food and she did her job to the best of her abilities why punish her for the cooks lousy cooking skills. As for the price of the food. Well just say we could of went to Burger King or McDonald's with 10 kids and got a better meal and paid a more reasonable bill... We had 3 people Myself, my husband and our son...we all ordered really nasty steak...and two side dishes with salad and dessert my husband and our son both got milkshakes and I just got a pop...the tab came to over 70.00 not including tip. We gave our waitress 10.00 ...so a 80.00 Neal that most of it got tossed out..and two hours later we were hungry again... something is wrong with...
Read moreI've eaten at the Fleetwood Diners a few times (Ann Arbor and Lansing) over the past 35 years. Going to school in Ann Arbor, I had a roomate who would always stay up later on evenings than I ever could. So the next day, I would hear about the rest of his evening and how he ended up at the Fleetwood in Ann Arbor, and I remember him talking about the value of the breakfast he had. At least that's what I remember. I ate at the the Ann Arbor location a few times since, and it was good, but not so memorable.
That said, I recently visited the Lansing location on Cedar. It was memorable, but not in a good way. I rarely write poor reviews on Google, because livelihoods depend on good reviews...but I had to write one on this visit.
Friendly and attentive wait staff, but it ends there. Definitely not a value or good. Home made corned beef hash? I didn't see it. If you've ever had home made corned beef hash (Afternoon Delight A2 or Anna's in Westland), you know what it looks like. This bunch of hash browns with a miniscule amount of minced corned beef did not look like what I'm used to in the category of home made corned beef hash. Awful. Just awful.
My sourdough bread toast was generously slathered with a liquid resembling rancid butter.
The interior of the Fleetwood did not have nostalgia, just filth. It's dirty, slippery, worn, and the bathroom is no better.
Some restaurants, you visit regularly and overlook the 'dive' atmosphere because the food and service are great. This place is not that. It's just a big, filthy, garbage can...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed and frustrated with my experience here. I came with two friends, and after being seated, we placed our orders. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty — only about three other tables, all of which were already eating — it still took over 50 minutes for our food to arrive. That alone was ridiculous.
When my food finally came, I was shocked. I had ordered a sirloin steak, but what I got instead was a cold, unseasoned burger patty. And get this — the server even admitted it was burger meat and said that’s just what they use. That’s completely unacceptable. If it’s not steak, don’t call it steak. I felt misled and ripped off.
To make matters worse, the server brought me hash browns instead of fries, and when I asked for the correct item, she came back and literally dropped a basket of fries on the table, saying, “Good thing we had some sitting on the counter!” The fries were cold, soggy, and clearly old.
The entire time there I saw three homeless people walking in and out of the bathroom and even a people asking us for rides! This entire experience felt unsafe.
I paid over $20 for a meal that was misrepresented, poorly made, and served with a complete lack of care. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had, and I’ll be telling others to avoid this...
