"If you can't afford to tip, then just dont eat out." And if your staff does a terrible job, then don't expect a tip. We went out to eat the evening of 8/30 about 7:30, it seemed like they were generally done with the night- wanting to end their shift and start what was apparently the start of a break for the staff. Being a waitress as well, I bust by butt for what I do and also am enjoying a break the restaurant I work at is giving us currently for the labor day weekend. Warning before you go here for an evening dinner: the staff is going to be on their phones talking about whatever instead of paying attention to the customers. Also, the food here is clearly for people with wonky taste buds, the entirety of the food was spoiled by their marinara sauce that literally tasted like Mexican salsa. Don't know if this is a popular thing I'm unaware of but I prefer my marinara sauce to not taste like mexican salsa, the food was just awful. Waitress was too busy eating her own food, and cleaning up the disgust of the rest of of the restaurant to worry about refilling our drinks. It took us annoyingly slurping our ice for her to do it LOL. There was a total of maybe 3-4 patrons by the time we left, I didn't want to tip anything but as a waitress I couldnt do that. She didn't deserve a damn dime. I work so hard doing what I do and I could NEVER treat customers like that even at the end of my shift when I was ready to go.They had a whole hour left before close. Just disappointing to go try new places out to eat and you get the poorest service ever. Waitress was rude and barely talked unless it was to tell some pointless story to her coworkers while I sat their thirsty, long brown hair pony tail, miserable looking face. I could NEVER give that level of poor service. Funny though, the other waitress, blonde, seemed to be on top of things and I wish we had her. Oh well. Do not recommend people traveling through lansing this place is NASTY, food and the inside. Musty as ever. Absolute pitiful food and service, when I saw only old people walking inside and out of it I knew I should have turned around but it was...
Read moreWe tried it for the first time since the new owners took over. Walking in to the entrance, you could see the bar area was re vamped and looked great from the entrance as well from our table. They cleaned it up and added several additional tv’s. They took out the booths on the bar side and added tall tables and chairs, which is a favorite, though lacking foot bars, your legs just kinda dangled. Upon arrival at the front entrance, we were very disappointing to say the least. There were maybe 2-3 tables of customers. We waited for several minutes to be acknowledged, made several “hello “ calls before we were acknowledged and seated, all the while the staff was having a very loud grand time amongst themselves, though glad they were enjoying themselves, the take wasn’t very welcoming. The waitress, though nice, spent more time complaining about how slow of a day it was and not many tips. We ordered the blacken chicken pasta and a side salad. The salad looked amazing but there was nowhere enough ranch, for the size, and we were not looking to spend an up charge because the size of the container wasn’t sufficient for the size of the salad, however, even if we were, our waitress never bothered to stop and check or even ask if we needed anything else. The pasta dish was tasteless, clearly not blackened chicken, and nothing like it was in the past. Tasteless! It was simply chicken and fettuccine pasta and sauce, again it was tasteless. Very...
Read more1st visit. Came with a group. Ordered, lasagna, my go-to dish for a new Italian restaurant. It was $10, for a good sized portion. I usually do not eat an entire entree. I always take some home. I ate about 1/2. That was fine for lunch or dinner. It was very good lasagna. One companion ordered a salad that was unusually large; with lots of fresh ingredients. There was enough for 3 small meals. Another companion ordered a wet burrito. The dish was unusually large. Enough for at least 2 meals; maybe 3. It looked very good. ☺
UpDate: Feb '22. Came for brkfst. Had excellent omelet. Everything was very well prepared. Service was attentive and unusually friendly and efficient. Ordered two cinnamon buns to go. Gifts for friends. Very large buns, sliced lengthwise. Came with large containers of frosting to add as you please. Excellent cinnamon buns. Noticed they have done some renovations. Added additional seating space on West side of the restaurant. That section wasn't open during brkfst time period.
