Taqueria Monarca — Restaurant in Lansing

Made it out to Taqueria Monarca food truck in Old Town. The owners, Mario and Ana, are super friendly and helpful. I admitted that I've never had their food before, so they walked me through their menu and their daily specials. Got the Wednesday Burrito Special (Steak) and their new Taco Alebrije (a nice open faced entree with choice of protein, beans, diced onions and tomato, cilantro, a mixture of their Monarda sauce and their jalapeno crema, and sliced avocado on a flour tortilla). They threw in a free Steak Mulita.

The steak is so tender. Plus, I love the sauce mixture and ALL of the items on the Alebrije. Both the Mulita and the Taco Alebrije filled me up that I'm having the huge steak burrito later. Definitely good peoples with good food. And both are super passionate about their food and...

Taqueria Monarca is awesome! The City of East Lansing had their food truck provide lunch for their annual staff picnic, which was my first time trying it- I had the steak tacos with corn tortillas and spicy sauce. They were delicious and comparable to the ones I’ve had in SoCal near the Mexican border. Best tacos in the Midwest IMO! The tortillas were soft, everything tasted fresh, and the balance of flavor with the meat, onions, cilantro, and spicy but not too spicy sauce was perfect. One of the best Mexican establishments in Lansing with the friendliest staff and amazing prices. Take advantage of their deals now and enjoy their great food and service at a bargain. They will definitely expand one day and inevitably have to raise their prices to what they actually deserve.
