El Meson De San Agustin — Restaurant in Laredo

We came from Dallas to Laredo to visit family. We were told that this place was great. The food is okay not all that! We were a table of 9 people. We all order our plates and we asked the gentleman if we could exchange some of the sides and he said yes. Well when we got the check it was ridiculously HIGH! They charged us for every exchange we did! Oh and just because I didn't want my sauce on top of my chicken the lady charged me $4! Every exchange was like $2!! almost $40 of charging for NO REASON! It was NEVER told to us that they would charge!! So I was REALLY UPSET! Not even here in Dallas do they do that! She wanted to tell me it's like if I go to Chilis and I ask to change the bread for steak that they will charge me. Of course that would be a extra charge Meat and Bread are two different categories! So dumb! I even told the old man who is there (the owner I believe) like hey it's not fair, and he didn't want to help! The cashier lady just wouldn't stop arguing! Even when I told her that I was done arguing, she kept going and going! I HATE IT! NEVER WILL I GO BACK!...

Sorry the food was not good at all... I got the mini milanesa and my husband got the normal plate and they literally served both of us a small table spoon of cold mashed potatoes. The milanesa tasted like they fried a piece of cardboard, it was so dry and hard to cut, my husbands rice had too much spices/ flavor that it wasn’t good. the place was over priced. Another thing I didn’t like was that they gave out plastic utensils you couldn’t even cut the food at all. Also I had ordered a fideo soup and they literally served it in a plastic salsa container it was burning hot I couldn’t even put it in my mouth it wasn’t very good it tasted bad so I left it there. So at the end that we where trying to pay the lady in the front literally snatched the screen before my husband was able to put his information so he can get a receipt on his phone. Went there yesterday with cousin they love to charge for made up charges. I recently had surgery so I couldn’t eat all my food and asked for a to go box they charged me $1.00 for it I was charged for jalapeños which I didn’t order my cousin ordered for herself and on her receipt she was charged for it already . If you ask for your Sauce on the side they will charge you .50 for the little plastic container. I didn’t get a receipt I was sent on my phone as well as my cousin they purposely do it so you don’t see what they charge you till you leave. Last time I went there they charged me $20 tip and the owner gave my grandma a sample of a piece of cake and I ended up being charged for it when it was suppose to free sample and was charged quite a bit for it . Just make sure they show you the charges before you pay and make sure they give you a receipt because they love to take money....
