Livi's Mexicue — Restaurant in Laredo

Definitely one of the best barbacoa places in the city. We got the Livi's Breakfast special which comes with Barbacoa, three eggs, a portion of beans mixed with chorizo, tortillas and salsa, the combination of all these ingredients was outstandingly good. On the other hand we got the Chilaquiles taco, which was pretty good as well and the Brisket sandwich we liked very much too. The atmosphere feels really cool, the service is amazing and they gave us a small Mimosa for free. Another thing worth mentioning is that you can bring your own beer, since they don't sell alcohol. The location itself is very convenient as well since it's in the heart of the city, close to many bars which is good if you stop by on a weekend night, we visited for brunch but since downtown is not so busy at that time, we found an available parking lot...

I’m visiting from out of town and was recommended this location for barbacoa and definitely piqued my interest when they mentioned they had smoked barbacoa, since, I’ve never had or even heard of it being smoked before.

I ordered 3 tacos of smoked barbacoa and a big red. The food is priced well and the taco are stuffed. It’s not overly greasy like some barbacoa I’ve had and it had a very smoky hue and flavor of it.

Aside from the good food, the customer service is phenomenal. I’m assuming the owner, explains their type of foods they serve, and even lets you sample some barbacoa if you never had it smoked before. It was delicious, will definitely visit again and...

UPDATE (May 2023) I have continued to go to Livi’s regularly. It has become my favorite place for barbacoa. I have also tried their brisket and it is excellent. Was lucky enough to try their Dino Rib as well and let me tell you… it is crazy delicious! Go and give them a try, you won’t regret it.

We tried Livi’s today for the first time and I am so impressed! We ordered a chilaquiles taco and tacos de barbacoa and wow! They were so delicious.
