Taco Palenque’s caldo de res is a hearty and flavorful dish that truly hits the spot. The presentation is colorful, with a variety of fresh vegetables, including corn, zucchini, carrots, green beans, and chickpeas, all simmered in a rich broth. The broth itself is well-seasoned with just the right amount of spices, offering a comforting balance of savory flavors without being too overpowering. The chunks of tender beef are plentiful, cooked to perfection, and fall apart easily with every bite.
One of the highlights of this dish is the corn, which is sweet and juicy, adding a nice contrast to the earthy and savory flavors of the other ingredients. The zucchini and green beans have just the right texture, not too mushy, and the chickpeas add a unique twist to the classic recipe. It’s clear that fresh ingredients were used, which really elevates the overall experience.
The serving size is generous, making this caldo de res a perfect option for a filling meal. Paired with warm tortillas, it’s a satisfying dish that comforts you on a cold day or when you're craving something homemade. However, the dish could have been even better if there was a bit more caldo (broth) to soak up all the flavors. The ingredients were well-prepared, but a heartier portion of broth would have made it even more enjoyable.
While it’s definitely on the traditional side, Taco Palenque has managed to make it feel special with their execution. Overall, this is a great take on a beloved classic, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Mexican...

I recently visited Taco Palenque and was disappointed by the service. Upon arrival, I noticed that the general manager at the time, Mireya, was engaged in conversation rather than attending to customers. Another guest and I entered at the same time, yet the person behind us was served first because the manager was too busy talking.
Although the restaurant itself was clean, a few tables needed attention, and the area near the salad bar had an excessive number of flies, which was off-putting. When we finally received our order, it was incorrect. I had requested kids' meals that included soup, but I was only charged for the meals without soup, resulting in an incomplete order. Had Mireya been paying closer attention, she might have caught this mistake before finalizing the transaction. Unfortunately, she seemed more focused on personal interactions than ensuring quality service.
Overall, this visit did not meet expectations, and I hope improvements can be made to provide better customer service...
Read moreThe food as usual was great. The Pico de Gallo was really awesome. No complaint at all about the food. The rating is for the customer service experience. Apparently they were having a hard time getting my card to process said it was getting declined. Finally the cashier called what apparently was the person in charge and their immediate response was we needed another form of payment. Another card was used successfully. I then proceeded to check my bank app and it showed 6 transactions that were processed for the same amount for the same order. It was brought to the managers attention and he simply stated that they didn't charge six times that the dispute was with the bank and he walked away. At which time I asked for the declined transaction receipts which they had thrown away and had to retrieve from the trash of which they only gave me 3 receipts. Overall very bad customer service experience. I truly hope it is an isolated incident and not the way all customers are treated. Will unfortunately reconsider future patronage at...
