H-E-B — Local services in Laredo

Where do I start with this place? There is nothing one can say wrong about HEB. From the way they managed their Coronavirus response, to the way every store is arranged the same so you can find what you're looking for, to the great 80s hits playing at the HEB on Saunders, HEB never disappoints. And I still havent even started on their yellow coupons and primo picks, or the great HEB brand name products. They could just sell all HEB brand name stuff and still have a great store. Well, I might be exaggerating on that one. I couldn't live without my Pepsi, but that bias still does not ditract from how great the HEB products are. Now, having said that, I will now go into my favorite part of shopping at the HEB on Saunders, besides having everything I need, like I said before, they play great music. I was walking down the aisle last time and Bon Jovi's "Livin on a prayer" was playing and when it got to the chorus, I swear several people stopped shopping just to sing "oooooooo we're halfway there!!! Woooowoooo livin on a prayer!!" Myself included. Then later on that same shopping trip I was looking at buying some Double Stuffed Oreos cause I committed the cardinal sin of going to shop on an empty stomach and I was supposed to be eating healthy. And they were playing Tiffany's "I think we're alone now" and serendipitously the song got to this part while I was staring at the voluptuous goodnes of those Double Stuffed Oreos:

"Look at the way we gotta hide what we're doin' 'Cause what would they say If they ever knew And so we're

Running just as fast as we can, holding on to one another hands Trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me And we tumble to the ground and then you say"

And it hit me, I'll probably need to hide the fact that I bought those oreos when I shouldn't have. The epiphany made me stay true to my diet and not buy them. My last stop on that same shopping trip was to the frozen food section to get some frozen vegetables while Peter Gabriel's "In your eyes" was playing and I caught my reflection in the glass door and I saw my sad eyes. So I went back and bought those oreos. Greatest decision of my life! Keep up the great work HEB and the great tunes. You guys are changing lives for the best.

(Update) Recently went back to get chips and dip for Super Bowl Sunday and they're still rocking...

A thing that took place at this store wows me. I am super friendly with everyone since I came to this place. I partner with H.E.B Relief team during the Llano and Kingsland, TX floods. I was at this store shopping and as usual, I was interacting with everyone when one of the employees told me about her interest in joining the military. I asked the usual pre-recruitment questions; are you married, do you have a High School or college education? And decided to make friend with this kid for this reason and offer to answer any questions she might have. I talked to couple of people as my usual outgoing personality and also with the intention to do some recruiting job. Upon returning to the store, two of the managers approached me and talked about them not wanting me at the store again because the employees are uncomfortable with having me. I politely explained the situation and apologized to these people but, they instead of coming to that sorry we didn’t get that part moments or it was a misinterpretation, they were ordering me out of the store and never to return. A customer who saw what happened came to me when he saw me in a restaurant, and apologize on their behalf. If I didn’t go back to this store to return an item, I would not had had the opportunity to explain to these guys that I didn’t mean any harm. I want to openly on this platform apologize to the store and to also reenforce this that someone could say A but, it’s perceived as E to someone else. I didn’t intend to make anyone uncomfortable by my presence as the only African-American at the store or as an individual who is outgoing with everyone.

I’m never shopping here again as the managers ordered me never to. I hope my apologies went to the store. Everything y’all said were just premature conclusions. The truth remains, I didn’t mean any harm to anyone neither did I intended to harass or make anyone...

DO DONT GET YOUR CUSTOM CAKES DONE HERE!!!!! From the jump every baker in this heb has an attitude problem and will not fulfill what you wanted for a cake.My brothers birthday was this past Monday and we ordered a custom cake in advance the maam with the scar on her lip told us it was possible to have the design that we wanted well come to find out on the day of the party exactly 10 minutes from the pick up time they call that they were not able to make that design. We rushed over to see what else we can have on the cake only to find out they “completed” our cake and it was the laziest way I’ve seen someone decorate it. It was not worth what we payed for! We tried fixing it by adding sprinkles and that just made it worse. When we went to return it the bakery manager Jocelyn gave us extremely unprofessional service and would talk over us when we wanted our money back and if that wasn’t possible just to redecorate it but no after how mis Jocelyn reacted towards us we did not want to have our cake tampered with. We instead went to get a tres leches cake which heb excels all making and on the way out we heard her talking about us to other team members in a rude way. This heb needs to train their bakers and miss Jocelyn on customer service I WILL NOT return to this bakery and they’re joke of a staff!!! Miss Jocelyn and her bakery staff need to be retrained in customer service and taking customers orders CORRECTLY!!! Below I posted the reference and what we received on the day of my brothers special day. We tried removing the sprinkles to salvage the cake but why do WE need to fix THEIR mistake!!!! And I also left below the final cake we had for his party! Completely ruined his birthday and I’m fuming...
