La Laguna Mariscos and Sushi — Restaurant in Laredo

What can I say. It may be a "sea food" restaurant, but not necessarily SEA FOOD. My wife and I stopped by the place to purchase a few orders to go, got home and was very disappointed! Let me sum up with a simple sentence...not fresh! The shrimp in any form cooked and prepared, bland as heck. Chewy, rubbery. Obviously store bought. Hence, frozen. The fried fish? Don't get me started. Bland as well. The fried sushi combo was also a disgrace. The cucumber salad was too sweet, and then rice was hard/dry like if it was something they made a day before. Yes, we did eat some of the food, after all I paid about $80.00 dlls I wasn't about to throw it away (not like I had a choice)! Overpriced, bland, frozen, store bought, and overrated "sea food" My advice is, buy it fresh from the market make it at home. I will not be going back that's for sure. Way over priced for the quality of food given. My 4 year old's fish nugget plate was $9 with a $3 drink. Practically no fish all breading and small mound of rice. $7 for a small shrimp cocktail that was horrible with no taste and small tasteless shrimp. $14 for a sushi roll with only 8 pieces of sushi. $3.25 for each drink was $16.25 for just the drinks. It's ridiculous. At better places you get the drinks for at least $1 less. $14 for a grilled Tilapia fillet with a little lettuce on the side and a small mound of rice. It's borderline theft. I would understand if the place was high class with great taste buts it's less than mediocre now. My wife can cook better at home. Extremely overpriced. Not a fair deal that leaves customers feeling satisfied. Feeling robbed is the better answer. I paid 25 dollars for a drink i barely tasted a hint of tequila with and this is after the waiter said this was the strongest drink available. I might as well have bought some water.
