My boyfriend wanted to buy me dinner of my choosing for my birthday and I chose Tijuana Flats. We decided to order take out so I signed up for an account online and ordered all our food through the website. When I went to check out, there was no way to complete the order unless I used a credit card. My boyfriend was paying cash but had gone home to shower and was going to pick up the food on his way back. So I entered my credit card info to place the order and then called right away to let them know we were paying call so not to put it through on the card. The guy went to find the order and couldn't find out so he said he would just take the order again by phone which is what I didn't want to do and why I ordered online in the first place. My boyfriend picked up the order paid cash and we ate. A week later I saw that my card had been charged for the meal also. I went to the restaurant with my bank statement and explained the situation to the man in charge that night. He said they were not in the practice of reversing credit card charges and I said that at that point I didn't Care that it was on the card because that wasnt the issue. I didn't think we should have to pay twice for our meal and that rather than reverse the charge it would poetically be easier to refund me the cash. He said they had no way of checking orders prior to the same day. He suggested I all my back to reverse the charge. He said he would leave A note for the general manager to call me but I never received a call from him. So instead of having a nice birthday dinner from Tijuana flats, they just robbed me of $30 by making me pay for a birthday meal that didn't not exist. it was a disappointing birthday experience to say...
Read moreGone are the days of the Brian Wheeler run Tijuana flats we all loved!!! No wonder they’re closing locations, they have completely strayed from their entire philosophy!! Nobody greeted us when we came, but hey, times are tough, labor is expensive, maybe they don’t do that anymore, no big deal. Now the issue I had started with my receipt telling me I ordered at 12:20, at 12:31, and with 4 tables other than us in the restaurant, I went to ask about our food. TF use to operate with an EXPECTATION of food going out of the kitchen in 7 minutes or less. Honestly, everything is already prepared, it’s just assembly and frying (if you had a fried dish) so it shouldn’t take more than 7 minutes and clearly not 11 minutes for a burrito and an order of flautas. Of course, as soon as I came up to ask about it, the excuse was “oh it just came up”. Food was warm, not hot. We were asked once about refills and that was after our food came out late. No manager came over, she was too busy avoiding us at all cost!! It’s a shame, this use to be a hot spot, I worked for this company as a GM and assistant GM for years, they sold this concept quite some time ago and it shows!! They’ve close two Locations in the immediate area around me, the (very) long time GM left this location recently and it...
Read moreWhen ordering, I asked the girl a question, and rather than listening to what i asked and then answering, she just said yep and then ended up charging me extra for something that I didn't want. She could care less when I brought it up to her. Then our food came out. Flats has always been a favorite restaurant of mine over in Orlando. So, when we picked where to go eat for birthday, we don't go eat out much, I chose this place. I couldn't have been anymore disappointed in the quality of the food. Both the beed and chicken chimichangas that used to be the same size as the burrito came out 1/3 of the size of the burrito. Then the chicken was so hard and dry that it hurt to eat. You can tell whoever was in the chicken just made a batch of chicken and let it sit on the grill until it was needed. I don't think a dog would have eaten or could have eaten that chicken without choking. It's a shame, I remember going to the first Flats and it always being so good. It was always that one place that I knew I could go order my food and just know it was going to be a good meal. Now the prices have gone up, portion sizes down and quality is out the window along with the kindness...
