I hate to write a negative review on this place but I’ve been there several times now…. Bagels were cold even though I got there the moment they opened - almost like they were baked over 10+ hours ago. The staff were friendly.
As a bagel nerd, I have to say these bagels fall short of the hype big time. The only great thing about them is the quality of their toppings. Otherwise the bagels tasted only slightly better than a grocery store bagel. I’ve also been to their headquarter locations in Berkeley and had the same disappointing experience with the bread quality. If a New York bagel averages 9/10, this place is close to a 4/10. Redwood Bagel Company in Novato is slightly better, with lower cost. What makes any NY bagel taste its best is the fresh warm and fluffy bread texture you just don’t have here… you have cold and dense.
Lastly I don’t recommend ordering spreads… they are super cheap with their spreads whether it’s cream cheese or avocado. They put on a tiny amount (very unlike New York) and send you on your way. Feels like a rip off.
There’s also no space to stand as you wait for your order… unlike the Berkeley locations which do have plenty of sitting/standing space there is practically zero here…
All this to say, if you do go I recommend the salt and pepper bagel. Just pick up some cream cheese or avocado separately at the grocery store and make your...
Read moreSo today Sunday 6/22 I went into Boichik Bagels like I usually do every other week. I was planning on buying sandwiches which I ended up doing but I usually also buy drinks from Boichik since Equator the next door coffee shop always has long lines. I usually get some orange juices or Dr Brown and some waters but they didn’t have any waters. I don’t understand how a place runs out of the most popular drink WATER. Whoever is in charge of ordering items for this shop SUCKS, this always happens if it’s not one thing they are out of it’s another thing. This is unacceptable I really hope the manager in charge of this location is talked about these constant issues. Don’t even get me started with the employees there🙄. Those two girls making the sandwiches are extremely unprofessional they not only don’t change their gloves when doing unsanitary things they are obnixiously loud. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this happen. They also happened to be touching eachothers hair and face and then proceeded to make the sandwiches that is totally not sanitary. Seems like this bagel shop has lots to work on hope the owner of the Boichik franchise can fix these problems since clearly the...
Read moreI grew up on the East Coast eating real, NY style bagels. I heard/read the hype on this place and was extremely disappointed. They have some interesting toppings, which is unique, a nice little store front, friendly staff, but the bagels themselves were nothing to brag about. They are “average” at best. I also ordered a toasted bagel with butter and they use some machine that is super fast, the bagel looks toasted, but it’s not crisp and hot. Totally lame… how about a real toaster please! The real shocker came when I ordered 3 bagels to-go that cost $9.00! $3/bagel? That’s a whopping $36/dozen! Really? San Anselmo’s Barton’s bagels (not my favorite, but decent) are $2.10 each, San Rafael House of Bagels are $1.50 each (and personal I think there are better than Boichik’s), New York Bagels in Strawberry Center Mill Valley are $$1.75 each. I understand that rent in Larkspur is very expensive, but is it worth gouging your customers? First impressions are always most important, sorry to say…. I will never come back to Boichick’s for ridiculously...
