Pepe's Restaurant — Restaurant in Las Cruces

Tried Pepe's again. Previously had been "okay." Tonight though, the service was lousy and the food mediocre. Sat down and were served a basket of chips and some salsa. So far, so good. Waitress came and took our order. Ten minutes later she delivered our tacos and we never saw her again. She never came back to refill our tea nor to ask if our food was okay. We did not have any silverware and I finally had to get up and go find a different waitress and ask her for silverware. The tacos were incredibly light of filling. There might've been a teaspoon of taco filling in each taco. A suggestion; if you can't afford to fill the taco in your normal fashion simply stop having "Taco Tuesday." Granted we only pay $0.50 per taco but you damage your reputation by serving mediocre food. After eating our three tacos we would have liked some more tacos but we could never find our waitress. We couldn't order more tacos. We couldn't get refills on our tea.

I was raised by a divorced mother that raised four of us by herself as a waitress her entire life. I know how hard they work. I alway tip. Tonight for the first time, I did not tip our waitress.

We couldn't even get our check. When we gave up and were ready to leave we just got up and went to the register and told the lady what we ate so we could pay our bill. A very disappointing experience. Not sure we'll return but we will certainly tell everyone we know about our disappointing...

Saturday the 21st of September in the am we patronized Pepe's for breakfast which we generally do every Saturday or Sunday's. We have been regular customer for a few years. Hostesses are nice and eager to accommodate. For some reason that day it took a turn for the worst unknow why. Food was not to my liking and was returned to make a small adjustment. When brought back within less than a minute it was not corrected. I left most of my food untouched. We were not even offered a refill. We are considerate customers, we always leave between 20 to 25 percent tips but that day we left her 15%. We were not even offered a percentage off for or anything else and all we got were excuses that they will do better next time and fix it next time. I responded by telling her that she should have been fixed this time and there should not be a next time for anybody. She agreed with me. I left dissatisfied. On another occasion we asked if we could be seated in the front room and were refused. Yet there were other patrons that seated themselves there without issues. I asked a male employee how come we couldn't be seated in that room and he stated that the people in there were regular customers. I spoke to the elderly couple that were seated in the front room and they stated that they were from California and were passing through. Doesn't make sense. so I've been here twice. today was Taco Tuesday. Tacos a dollar each. they should be three for a dollar. mostly lettuce, a couple of beans and maybe if you're lucky a half teaspoon of meat. It was explained to me by our very nice waitress (who was a good server) that drinks were one dollar each even if you got water. That was ok, no problem. I had water. I ordered the white queso cheese. It came out in a big glob of incredibly hard cheese. I asked to have it warmed up and then it came out in a big blob of semi hard cheese. It was the worst I've ever gotten anywhere. I've ordered this many times at many different restaurants in several different states, it was always very good. Not this time. AND it was $11 for this terrible dish. Then at the end of the meal, I was charged over $3 for my drink. so much for the drinks being a dollar with the Taco Tuesday tacos. Needless to say I will never be back. It was such a huge disappointment. How they stay in business...
