Food was good. The sushi is amazing and Katsu Sando is okay. The waitress is so sweet and the guy running our food, who I assume was the owner, is such a nice guy and very attentive. Our food came in on time and we had good service.
The reason I’m giving it two stars is because the atmosphere was really tense and bad. My friend has been bragging about this place and I wanted to check it out with my son, boyfriend, and roommate. We walked in and the sweet waitress asked how many people and we said 4. Then a cook came out in the back and started yelling. I’m not sure who he was yelling at specifically but he started pointing at us and screaming about how there’s 5 people and asking why is there 5 people coming in. My friend said there’s 4 and he continued to point and yell about us coming inside. I didn’t take it personally I’m sure he was overwhelmed because it was busy but it created an awkward atmosphere. We ignored it and then the cook walked towards us aggressively to leave out the door and nearly shoved my 8 year old son into the wall. Then the waitress came up to us and tried sitting us down. I felt so nervous to order thinking we were inconveniencing them but the waitress was so nice so I thought it was okay. My boyfriend refused to eat because he thought they would spit in his food. But my son and I ordered food and it looked fine I think. It was just an intense, confusing experience. No one working there mentioned what happened nor did anyone apologize about the incident and acted like nothing happened. I understand that people can have bad days but I also do believe keeping your personal life outside of work. I just didn’t expect that nor experienced that before especially coming from a cook who we knew cooks our food. It made our experience uncomfortable and we didn’t know what led to that, making us not as hungry as we originally were...
Read moreI like the changes made to the interior from the previous occupant of the space; the seating is comfortable, unpretentious, with tablets for watching anime (was a bit confused but liked it).
The tonkatsu was crisp, quality clearly paid attention to and the food overall good.
So I have two somewhat minor complaints on what was otherwise a pretty good meal overall: it's fusion, which means stylistically the food isn't exactly as expected. My wife has a sensitivity to peppers and the kitchen staff, without realizing, used a premade sauce with a mild pepper in it on her food. They had no idea they'd given her something she was allergic to, which the staff addresses, but it's a concern. The other is knife skill. Maki rolls require a sharp knife cut in a single direction to make a uniform and clean edge. The maki we were served had been sawed, ingredients cut at various widths, and between those two elements, the lack of ingredient awareness and knife skill, make me leery of ordering sashimi.
That being said, the place serves much more than sashimi and the katsu curry I had was good, my wife's katsu was corrected with very little fuss, and I otherwise enjoyed...
Read moreEvery time after work, I would see this place and long for when they opened. Days passed, then became weeks. Finally at long last, it has opened, and my expectations were admittedly high.
They met my expectations.
Ramen is good and all, but Enza's strength lies in its all other parts. Delicious slushes while you wait, Donburis like their chashu bowl that has a perfect balance for their sauces, meat and rice. Their Tonkatsu Sando (Crispy Pork Mini Sandwiches with coleslaw and Tonkatsu Sauce) is undoubtedly their best dish for me.
Their staff is fresh and led by a competently hospitable manager. Small buttons on each table allow you to call for a server at your convenience.
Pop music plays at a comfortable level, and the surrounding conversation fills you with comfort. I have seen people from all walks of life, bringing to mind a thought: "Good Food is the ultimate equalizer."
The price is reasonable for our current time. Stop by during happy hour for an even more reasonably priced Lunch Bento. $11 for Chicken Teriyaki, rice, assorted veggies, some sushi rolls, and noodle soup? Yes.
This place is going on my list of local favorites. I highly...
