NOTE: See new review at end.
Being from out of town I wanted to try a local breakfast spot. I found the harvest Cafe on line and their prices seem to be reasonable. I ordered two eggs over easy bacon crisp and dry with hash browns. No toast but substituted a biscuit instead. I asked how much for a side of gravy and he said 99 cents. Let me start with a positive note that the food was very good and exactly how I am asked. When I got the bill that is where there was a difference. The meal I ordered was $1 more than the menu said online, the coffee was $0.30 more a cup then the online price of $2.55. the 99-Cent gravy that he told me about was $1.29. I explained my issue to the man taking the money and he explained that he was not the boss but he would tell them. Bottom-line my attempt to get a reasonably priced breakfast wound up being $15.23 not including a tip.
NOTE: New review., I have been here two times since the above review. This is the last time. Harvest Cafe has a variety of tasty breakfast and lunch offerings. I was here for the Eggs Benedict only. I repeat MY REVIEW IS ONLY FOR THE EGGS BENEDICT.
The waitress, Karina, was very cordial and helpful. I was greeted by staff and showed to a booth. My request for a black coffee and water was brought right away. I have a "top ten" list for Benedicts. This is how I rate them.
My rating is based on 3 weights : 70% = taste 20% = presentation 10% = price
#1 - taste: they have an option of hash browns or breakfast potatoes. I chose hash browns . I asked for easy/light poached eggs and was presented with 2 medium poached eggs. I did not find out if the Hollandaise sauce was from scratch but it was thin and had a vary tart flavor. The Canadian bacon was tough and grisly. The reason I review Eggs Benedict is because of the difference in the flavor of the Hollandaise sauce. Their decent amount of hash browns were shredded and cooked perfectly.
#2 -presentation : The presentation was ok. #3-price: $13.99 is the reasonable price for Benedicts with hash browns. Coffee for $3.55 a cup is on the high side. A couple of years ago I tried their breakfast and was not impressed. This review is for the Eggs Benedict only. I recommend you give them a try and see...
Read moreWe have gone here a half dozen times or so and liked the food and the staff. The food is more fresh made than most places and reasonable priced. Everyother time we have gone in, they coo and talk to our baby as they did last night. She is a mess but we clean up all the floor mess before we go. Other than that she is a normal kid. She talks and laughs while she sets in the highchiar, fusses when we clean her up, and stares at strangers. As I started the usual clean up of hands and face first, she started fussing and instantly eye rolls and comments from three booths down (we had intentionally gone to the very back corner with the baby). Just as I am finishing up and starting the floor routine the watriess from the front comes to our table to inform me that we are being to loud and would like it if we could "keep it down". My response "you are not serious?"... hers "yes. I am!" As she walks away. My husband picks up the baby and we head up front to pay without even getting the check and leaving the mess. As he expressed his grievances, the waitress include that she was polite. Polite or intolerant of a child and its parents tending to it in a "family restaurant". She hadn't been loud the rest of the dinner and was by no means yelling then. We were also informed that "it was an older crowd". I suppose that would justify way we couldn't bring in a baby and expect common service. I am livid. We will not be going back. As stated above, we usally feel that our children are well accept here. Catered to, even. I guess it just depends if the older crowd is tolerant as to rather it will be good experience or not; at least that is how it was explained to us.
I am sorry to our server as I am sure you didn't get a tip and had to clean up after being nothing but...
Read morePros- Price. This place stays pretty busy because of the great prices. You really can't find this much food for this cheap anywhere at least that I know of, near here. Promotions. If you keep an eye out for their promotions and order the specials you can get an evenbetter deal. The food is pretty good too. Not game changer good but I'm a scale of 1 to 10 probably around a 6. Which for the price you pay it's much better than paying 40 to 50 percent more for a 2 or 3.
Cons- decor and cleanliness could be improved a bit. Booths a rent very comfortable and probably need to be reupholstered. Sometimes it is a little warm in here, possibly because the regular clientele complains about being cold.
Basics- this place while most people usually go for breakfast they have a really good lunch as well.
Specifics- I think the best part about this place is how fast the food comes out. It's niceto be able to get in and out of a place in 30 to 40 minutes and the staff is very friendly.
Conclusion - Overall you can't beat the value here. Good food, great price,...
