I had been looking forward to trying Jorge's since they opened and finally made it there last night.
First, let me comment on the atmosphere. I was surprised to walk through the front door to a dimly lit bar. I noticed a door that went to the right, at the end of the bar, and was led to my table in the dining area, which was also dimly lit and very dated. The kitchen is located behind a swinging door located in the side wall of the dining area, and you can hear everything going on in the kitchen.
My drink order was taken quickly (I had a Presidente marg). It arrived and as noted on the drink menu, there was a layer of brandy on top of the marg mix. Make sure you stir! From the posted reviews, I expected a fantastic drink...it was just ok. There are several spots in town with better margs.
For a Mexican restaurant, there were surprisingly few Mexican entrees. In fact, the two featured items are the same thing, fajitas (but they call them skillets). I got the 101 Skillet, New York Strip version. The portion size was huge, but I have never had beef fajitas where the beef was not marinated. In looking through recipes, all call for the beef to be marinated. This beef had never sniffed a marinade. As a result, the New York Strip (i really doubt it was strip steak), was dry and flavorless. My guess is that is was cooked sometime earlier in the day and reheated. While I watch my salt intake, Jorge's did the work for me by completely passing on the salt...or any seasoning whatsoever. The "skillet" comes with rice and beans, guacamole and sour cream (a tablespoon of each).
I was terribly disappointed in this restaurant. Normally, I give a place three tries before writing them off. Due to the limited menu, I see no point in going back, and...
Read moreWe went for the first time tonight for Taco Tuesday and we can't wait to go back! When you enter into the restaurant, you walk into a quaint and friendly bar area. We chose to sit at one of the only tables in the bar for ambience, but you can also sit in a main dining area around the corner. First we both ordered margaritas, which were amazing. They were the perfect combination of both boozy and tasty. After that, we chose to order an appetizer that was on special which was a corn fritter with a side of ranch. It was so good! I got the $2 tacos, one beef and one chicken and they were some of the best tacos I've ever had! My husband got a taco salad and he loved it. The service was very friendly and all of the staff were happy and kind. This is a great place for a delicious drink and really good food combined with friendly and prompt service....
Read moreWe stop in from time to time and never had a bad experience! The food has always been awesome! We tried the mixed fried chicken. The batter is 👏 amazing! The wrap with avocados and steak may have become my new favorite wrap! Do you wanna talk about prices? Honestly, we don't think you can beat them, especially with all the inflation lately! A few beers each and two large meals was less than $40! ALL of the servers are always smiling, ready to serve you, and are eager to make your dining experience worth it! The food selection is great, not too much, not too little. The selection ranges from chicken, pork tenderloins, [B.Y.O] burgers, salads, wraps, and everything in between. The menu does change from time to time, and the specials we've tried...
