Came here hoping to have the experience so many others had talked about when it comes to Starved Rock Lodge. Horribly disappointing. Service was terrible and slow, waitress was inattentive and I sat there forever trying to get her attention because she brought me a veggie burger when id ordered a regular burger. Had to wait extra for the corrected item. It was cooked well done, yuck. Never got any napkins so had to go to the bar numerous times to get some. Barely received an apology for the food mess up and then to top it off the waitress brings my check, total is $26.84 for a coke and burger. And when she finally rings me out and brings over the copies for me to sign I see the total is now $33.31 and I realize she had brought over someone elses check with a pretzel roll and pumpkin drink on it. She rang my card on someone elses check, then disappeared so I had to get the bartender to fix everything. I hope I dont get double charged for two meals, one of which wasnt even mine. Not to mention that was not at ALL worth $26 bucks. I did not leave a tip, rightfully so since I basically had to do all the work the waitress should have been doing.
Additionally one of the other waitresses talked VERY loudly about a “problem” customer, who in my opinion, sounded like he was just simply looking for regular service and was just asking questions. Super unprofessional to be smack talking so loudly around other patrons, makes you wonder how much they talk badly about every single customer.
Also there are cobwebs and dead bugs EVERYWHERE. I cant even imagine what the kitchen must be like if the dining area is that dirty...
Read moreHonestly, I feel horrible leaving this 1 star, but stay away. I told myself it was going to be a tourist trap, but thought it would be cute. I was wrong. First of all, they were not crowded and it still took 15 minutes for someone to bring us menus. Our particular waitress was very rude. I am going to leave her name out of this review, but was debating talking to a manager about her. She did not even say hello. Just gave us the menus and walked away. She came back 15 minutes later asking us if we were ready to order. Never once asked us if we wanted drinks. Then she came back and plopped the food down in front of us. Not enjoy your meal or is there anything I can get you. And the prices, omg. Ordered cheese curds for an appetizer. Seriously so small and we’re clearly frozen. Then the main meals $16 a sandwich. The burger was clearly frozen with no flavor. Asked just for lettuce and tomato but also was given onions and pickles. I don’t think the waitress was listening to us or cared much about us. It sort of ruined the end of the day because we spent $55 on a soda, 2 sandwiches, and cheese curds. Not to mention when my husband ordered a Diet Coke, she did not tell us it was Pepsi. We didn’t care, but weird she didn’t say anything. She told the table behind us they have Pepsi products, not Coke. She was friendlier to the other groups of people, but still not overly friendly. I hate to think like this, but I feel her demeanor was so negative toward us since my husband...
Read moreAfter a long day of hiking & exploring with the family, we were all craving more food than we brought with, so we made it to the outside deck here to enjoy some good food. With 6 people, we were split on what we wanted for Apps; 3 shared a Margherita Flat Bread while the rest of us had the Gorgonzola Nachos. The Flatbread was enjoyed, but the Nachos were awesome, even though they were a bit unusual for Nachos. Instead of tortilla chips, it had homemade potato chips, which were excellent, with chicken, bacon and Gorgonzola crumbles & sauce...great flavors. For dinner, 3 had burgers and what the other 3 had, i forget as i was too distracted by how hungry i was. I prefer my burger medium rare, but they only do them well and i will say it was the best well burger i've had. With all that food, 2 apps, 6 sandwiches, 3 beers, 3 wines & 4 pops our tab was about $120. The atmosphere, food & service....it was well worth...
