We went just before 6:00 PM on a Saturday, and we did not have a reservation. The only available seats they had were outside, but it was quite nice outside, so that wasn't a problem. The waitress did not introduce herself, and came off as a bit standoffish, likely because she had the disservice of having to serve those sitting outside. Her attitude got slightly better throughout the service, but was otherwise below average. The free bread had two varieties, one slightly covered with tomato sauce, and the other an oil and herb coating; overall they were average. I ordered the lasagna, but also wanted to try a more traditional pasta, so i got a small side of fettuccine alfredo. I made a plan to order the lasagna, because I assumed that this really well reviewed Italian restaurant would make a sheet or two of lasagna for dinner service, and because we got there early, I would get to enjoy it fresh. I was wrong. Instead they wrapped the meat and cheese in a lasagna noodle or two, baked it, and then ladled over some marinara sauce. The sauce was okay, but there was a very weird taste, almost bitter and sweet on a few of the bites, which I found quite unpleasant. There were also areas of the lasagna where the pasta and the beef filling were burnt a little too badly. Overall that dish was very underwhelming, as I didn't considering it to be lasagna. The side of fettuccine alfredo was a little over-sauced, but was pretty good. There was a man at the front desk who greeted us upon entry, who seemed as though he was either the manager or the owner, who was much nicer than our waitress, and was nice enough to split our bills, as we were there on business and needed itemized receipts to submit individually. So as far as service goes, only the waitress sort of ruined things. I can only speak to the food items I ordered, but I'm still shocked this place has a 4.6 average with 95 reviews at the...
Read moreSome of the reviews here make me wonder if they actually went to Leonardo's. This is an excellent Italian Restaurant. One reviewer complained about Fried Chicken...maybe they had a fast food joint in mind. The Seafood Risotto has never been oily...it's full of crab, and topped with scallops and shrimp grilled perfectly. We were there last week, and while absolutely packed with Christmas Parties, the kitchen didn't miss a beat. No delays in food because of the large groups. The wait staff are all veterans and have never disappointed. I have been there for dinners, repasses, anniversaries and retirements and never question going back. There was a review I saw on Leonardo's that complained about a bleach smell in the bathroom. Well...Wouldn't you want a clean bathroom? Most people do. If anyone has a sensitivity to cleaners while eating, know that the restroom area is totally isolated from the dining room. One thing to warn you about though, the pesto and tomato sauce breads are addictive...so go easy on refills. Thank you Jeanne and Robert Keep it up! With the demise of all but one Italian eatery in Chambersburg, at least the Trenton suburbs keeps the...
Read moreI want to take a moment to just call out how incredible Leonardo's in Lawrenceville is and has been. For over 20 years Leonardo's, Rob and his staff have been providing great food venue at reasonable prices. I have been going there for as long as Rob has owned the restaurant. A favorite by most people is the Vodka rig, one of my favorites apps is the eggplant rollatini. The dishes are a great size with enough for leftovers. They have an incredible private party room which serves 30 to 40 people. We recently had a graduation party there for 30 and the service and food was impeccable. Retirement parties rehearsal dinners you name it they can handle it. They will work with you on your menu needs. They also do an incredible catering takeout business. If you haven't been to Leonardo's or it's been a while be sure to go...
