CocoRay's — Restaurant in Lawrence

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Coco Ray's Mexican - Puerto Rican food, and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience! The restaurant has a cozy and inviting atmosphere that immediately put me at ease.

The food at Coco Ray's is simply outstanding. I could tell that they take great care in preparing their dishes, and it really shows in the quality of their cuisine. I particularly enjoyed the mofongo, which was packed with flavor and seasoned to perfection.

In addition to their Puerto Rican dishes, Coco Ray's also offers a variety of delicious Mexican cuisine, which is equally impressive. I tried the tacos, and they were some of the best I've ever had. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were bold and authentic.

The staff at Coco Ray's was friendly and welcoming, and they went out of their way to make sure that I had a pleasant dining experience. They were happy to answer any questions I had and make recommendations based on my preferences.

The only downside to Coco Ray's is that the seating can be a bit limited, as the restaurant is on the smaller side. However, I found that the cozy atmosphere only added to the charm of the place.

INCOMPETENT AND MESSY! I went there yesterday (11/19/22) evening around 6:30pm. To order food was a HASSLE and we had to stand there at the register and wait for an employee to do their job for 10+ minutes. Finally when I speak up and say some thing to one of the girls looked at me, she swiftly takes our order, went to the back and NEVER came out again. Now we’re standing there confused like “ok? So is she going to complete this transaction?” The other workers are extremely incompetent and purposely avoided looking up just so they did not have to help KNOWING IM CLEARLY WAITING TO PAY. Since we as the customers have to do the workers job and have to establish communication, We then ask one of the other workers “did she start our order?” And the worker replied with “yes, it’ll be 10 minutes”.

So we’re waiting outside of the restaurant and 20 minutes goes by (to give them extra time). We go back inside assuming our food is done AND THEY NEVER EVEN STARTED IT!!! The service was complete trash, the incompetency of the employees is WILD!

I heard such great things about the food but since I never got my order I can’t speak on that. However what this review is about is how upper management needs to reprimand these lazy/unskilled employees, teach them people the skills of the job, and understand THIS IS A REAL BAD LOOK.

I have ordered and picked up from here several times via their online ordering system/Uber eats. They were great, but recently they’re forgetting parts of my order. The first time I brushed it off as a mistake. But now the second time, it’s annoying and I wonder why they can’t slow down and read the orders and quality check them. The first time they forgot my pastelitos I called and asked for a refund, but they insisted that I come in to get it and get an additional one for free. I gave in and went back the next day (wasn’t worth it).

The second time they forgot something was today and I ordered chips and guac, but got no guac. It’s a small item and cost, but very aggravating to not get what I ordered and paid for.

Additionally, they really need to start labeling their food orders to not tip over. Almost every time I order Uber eats my tacos end up on their side and all of the filling falls out. I understand this is the drivers doing, but how would they know which way to hold the bag if the restaurant doesn’t tell them?
