Golden House Restaurant — Restaurant in Lawrence

After waiting nearly 3 hours for delivery from this restaurant I calls to see where our food wise. After speaking to two different employees explaining who I was what I ordered and when I ordered I can hear nothing but chaos in the background. I was then disconnected and I had to call back and ask to speak to a manager, I explaind to the manager what has happened and he told me that delivery was attempted but there was no one home, I told him that that was not possible and we were waiting for his arrival. His driver went to the wrong address, and did not bother to call anyone to find out if he was at the wrong address. So the manager said that he would re-deliver it and I asked him for a price adjustment for the service that he’s given, he said none he said it’s not our fault, he was very abrupt and very rude and refused to take responsibility for his driver who went to the wrong address. This was my first experience with this restaurant, and I have never been treated so rudely by a management figure of any restaurant I’ve ever eat then. This may be a wonderful restaurant, they may have wonderful food, but I’ll never know because I refuse to do business with people who treat their customers like this, After waiting another hour for the second delivery, I called the restaurant and just canceled the order. I hope you get better...

The owners were wonderful when we dealt with them briefly, the 2 young women serving last Friday night were a 1/5 stars. We sat (where the server/hostess brought us and walked away saying nothing)for almost 20 minutes before getting our drink order taken until one came by and said "oh, haha, she always forgets" and then still walked away from us. It wasnt that busy as far as people in the place, maybe there was a lot of to-go orders? 1 drink came right away,the other 2 drinks came out well after 2 of the 3 meals were served. The 3rd meal didnt come until 2 of us were at least half way though our meals. Just awkward all around. Waited for the bill and just ended up going up to the register to ask for it. I tipped of course because I'm not classless. But it wasn't deserved. Food was alright. Honestly because the owners we're so sweet and friendly I might try it again, but it will be take out. Since day one, the Golden House has served up both quality food and excellent service. A true representation of how a successful family small businesses should be run. I remember before they expanded. Their tables continued to be seated with happy customers, while in the background the owner’s/management churned through take out orders, more by the minute.

My friends and I, we would drive here from an hour away on multiple occasions because the food and service were simply left us always feeling full and satisfied every single time. They continue to run an efficient service, even when the current times we are in have made this industry much more challenging.

Find me a restaurant with similar accolades and a long standing reputation like this one. I’ll gladly take a seat and share the same praise.
