Read moreWas good, maybe it's a management change? I'm not sure what happened. This used to be a go to place to hang out on a Sunday and have a beer, but this last weekend it was a ghost town and I couldn't figure out why...at first. Though our individual server was sweet and attentive the food took forever to come out and someone I took to be a manger was really short spoken and a bit rude when basically i made eye contact on my way to the toilet and basically said "hi nice to have a break in the weather" . Some lady that wasn't our server was shooting daggers at us and I honestly don't know what happened. Like I said, we've been here at least a half dozen times before, because the beer selection has been ( and remains) solid. We are middle aged folks who want to chat in a beer garden, not raging college kids, but maybe they are trying for a hipper crowd who consumes more? If we were taking upa table and lingering over a beer when they needed the table maybe i would understand the cold shoulder but by the time we left we were literally the only people there. So if you want to get a decent beer and spin the vibe roulette wheel, come here. If you want to get a decent beer and just have decent service, lawrence is lucky to have many...
Read moreFirst visit for a meal. We came in about 1 PM and there were only a handful of other patrons. Service was slow but friendly enough. The real disappointment was the food! Hubby ordered fish and chips and received what looked like a couple of cheap frozen fish pieces (the chopped kind, like fish sticks but bigger), a handful of fries and some cole slaw, which he passed over to me. I ordered the Fun Guy pizza. The crust was decent. Sauce tasted like bland, bottled Alfredo sauce. It is advertised as a pizza with mushrooms. I got what appeared to be a single sliced mushroom spread across the entire 9" pie. I asked how spicy the spiced chicken was. I needn't have worried as it had no discernable seasoning. It was also dry. Oh, and the "vinegar' slaw? It was a bowl of un-dressed cole slaw mix. The kind you buy at Walmart by the bag. Dry and no flavor beyond the cabbage.
I had been here for an event in the evening last week and heard people in my group raving about the food. But after spending $40 for lunch including tip and iced tea for both of us, I probably won't be back. Disappointing because the atmosphere is pretty neat, even if you aren't...
