First five pics are the awful shower stall state at ok-hall with mold and mildew. They're quick to fine students on the state of the dorm rooms when they check out but can't turn that scrutinizing eye on their own facilities provided? I had to submit a Maintenance Request for that, the least they could do is re-caulk the moldy strips since that's peeling away but again, a student shouldn't have to.
The shower curtain is filthy and needs replacement, I noticed there was a fully functioning shower stall which didn't have a shower curtain so I had to ask if I can put my extra one up there for me and the other ladies since we fight for that one stall, I'll update with an answer on that but again, the school should replace the shower curtains. btw What you're seeing is after I cleaned the shower a little so yes it was worse.
They complain of the toilets clogging from excess TP but don't provide waste bins so the tampon and pad bins overflow instead.
The next three shower stalls are from a different dorm to compare and it's slightly better with three stalls working.
However I learned in the Roe Cloud building that they have their own personal showers in their rooms and that they're clean with no mold! How unfair is that?? It's by far the nicest building so it can make you feel a bit unequal which is bad for an Indigenous college that tries to remind us that Native Americans were mistreated in boarding schools back then. They need to renovate the awful dorms to RC-Hall's standards so we can all feel equal with nice sanitary dorms.
Now I had to file a report about my roommate having friends who come in at 6:40AM, one of them being a male which isn't allowed at that time and the other uninvited guest was a girl on... something. Imagine waking up to a woman on drugs/booze and a man suddenly in your bedroom, it would have been more scary if I was alone or they came to steal if I wasn't there. So yeah, not very safe
The problem was my dorm's SRA seemed poorly trained with a shrugging lackluster "I guess I can file a report...", I had to bring up the option of switching dorm rooms myself, it's a good thing I knew about that because it seemed like he wasn't going to notify that or anything else.
So I later went to RC-Hall and the SRA over there was much more helpful, giving further options, taking her own report and telling me who and when I can report to like when Campus Security will be in. She even sent an email to the Housing Department Head and said they'll follow up with me since they weren't there. But uh, that is a bit scary that the Campus Security wasn't there when I needed to talk to them in their office at Saturday. Weekends can get crazy you know so you need authority at all times. Imagine going through a worse scenario and needing them then, I mean a guy was in my dorm room earlier uninvited, so security or the SRA didn't keep an eye out for that.
I love the classes and professors but the living arrangement is awful and not worth the money so far. They show you the nice rooms but not the awful ones. I think prison cells are cleaner than my dorm room and my roommate said she had to scrub the floors when she first arrived because they were so sticky. What happened to the "cleaning fine fees" they charge students if the rooms aren't clean for the new students? I had to clean the AC vent because there was so much dust bunnies on it that I didn't want to breathe that in, it should be vacuumed seasonally at least.
The only thing I can say is the food was good, love the cooking and serving staff, they're so friendly! Also the library staff are amazing
But yes, you have been warned, something I wish I was...
Read moreThis was a great experience for me at that time. When i attended Haskell, it was a trade school. I took up practical nursing. and worked as an L.p.N. after that. My last name was Somegastava. I made alot of friends from different tribes. Kept in contact with some and have lost a few. So hope some of you will write, i would enjoy hearing from you. I had a chance to return to Haskell a few years back. My daughter- Leslie drove me there. There have been a few changes but to me it looks the same .Old Pokie remains and some of the other buildings. The union building has some changes. I know many of my fellow nurses, are married and have families. They may be retired now, like me. Taking care of family members. So ladies, I would like to here from you-----Please. After graduating, I had planned to enter one of the branches of the military. My brother talked me out of it. i shouldn't have listened too him. But was not for me to do , I guess. Well this is me for now. Take care everyone and God Bless You...
Read moreHaskell is a trap, it's cheap for a reason!! They only show the nice rooms from the newer building, don't be fooled! There is mold in the showers and rooms, missing security and S/RA's that don't do their jobs so if something serious happens, you'll be on your own. Professors are great and the other staff such as library, janitors and serving + kitchen staff are wonderful but the housing head ignores you or from what I heard, belittles. We did get served moldy bread and meals are hit or miss. Room checks say you need a "made bed an d organized desk", thats ridiculous esp considering they turn a blind eye to the moldy peeling caulking strips in the showers and are stingy when they turn on the heat for the rooms. Choose a different uni if you can. Read about the ignored SA reports journal of the uni but there's bullying...
