Uplift Coffee — Restaurant in Lawrence

As a DJ, I occasionally have to meet with brides and talk logistics of their event. Today I did just that, I met bride who is from Baldwin City and I am from Topeka. She chose Uplift and I was happy to meet. When I arrive I was a bit ahead of her so I stepped inside to see if by chance I could get a couple sheets of paper as I had just from my day job over to this meeting. The lady working (who I believe is the owner) was very polite and welcomed me. We spoke for a few moments and she asked if I wanted a drink. I hadn't thought that far but chose the basis of my drink and let her and her help run with that idea. This is where the twist comes in. They had already closed for the day as it was after 2pm. Yet they made me a drink and gave it to me free of charge as I had explained my situation of meeting a bride. I had the iced mocha and breakfast burrito. First, the breakfast burrito appeared to be air fried which is something I love. I wish more places would do it this way in fact. It made it crispy on the outside but none of it was greasy. The eggs were perfectly cooked. Whoever prepare those eggs knows how to scramble like a pro. I deducted one star because I felt it would’ve been better using breakfast sausage instead of Italian sausage. The fennel clashed with the egg making an unpleasant combination. I really enjoyed the iced mocha as it had the appropriate coffee bite I was looking for without overwhelming itself with too much chocolate or sweetness. We are encouraged to support local businesses during this difficult time but I won’t be returning out of obligation, but rather, I’ll come back because I want to try everything on the menu. Being new to Lawrence, we are always excited to try new places but, we usually don't know about them unless we see an advertisement. I kept seeing comments on FB about Uplift Coffee and how the coffee is amazing. People mentioned they had the Ice Flights there and just knew we needed to check this place out. We went on a Sunday morning and it was already pretty busy. With it raining outside, we had to find a seat where we could. We ordered, sat and had them bring our drinks out. I had the Iced Flight and it was so great. I really like having a chance to try different drinks at a smaller portion. The one thing I would change is that I would let people choose what drinks they want on the flight. The choices were amazing but, maybe a hot flight and let me choose my 4 drinks?
