Gaslight Gardens — Restaurant in Lawrence

I'd never been to this place before. I went to see the band they had playing and was excited after seeing all of the good reviews.

The service was great, but I felt for the cost of our drinks the atmosphere just wasn't worth it. I paid the same for a well whiskey sour as I did for a fancy basil drink ($8), and the shirley temples for our kids were $3.50 each. I'm not saying they did anything wrong, i was just not expecting this price considering the dive bar feel of the place (and the fact is was right next to a loud busy road and nowhere near the main strip). If you like this place, the price is worth it I suppose. I just don't feel like it was a good value for me, especially considering the small size, unfavorable location, and lack of any games/food/seating/selection/etc.

To each his own, but the band was great.

Edit: I forgot to mention, I also called four/five days in a row (during business hours) to get a copy of my receipt. I never got an answer or call back -- they just sent me the info in an email -- which works fine, i just don't understand why no one...

We came here for a live music performance that we were looking forward to, but we weren’t able to stay because of the horrible treatment we received from staff. A bartender passed my partner’s driver’s license around to other patrons to get their “opinions” on it, and a manager later screamed in our faces because the bar staff forgot our wristbands. Other reviews seem to complain about this same individual. It was all around unprofessional and humiliating. We were very disappointed and hope the event will not partner with them...

My friends and I were publicly humiliated, in front of multiple people, for using our own IDs at this place. I was not served a drink because my drivers license says that I’m 5’6”, and according to the “bartenders discretion” I’m 5’4”?!?!? I recently broke my foot, so I’m currently on crutches… obviously I’m going to be shorter. If you want to be humiliated, please come here! It’s clear that this place doesn’t want your money. You’ll be thrown out in the first 5 minutes! Wish I could give less...
