Follow up to the incident previously posted, first of all i was promised a call back and i never received one , i instead had to call myself to inquire about the problem. The owner said she will not refund my money that i can have a gift card for same amount. I was wanting my money back because i was not happy that she was not too busy that evening to talk to them and say do not refund her money, but she was too busy to call me, like i asked ,about getting my money back because i never received the food for which i had paid for. . This made me decide that customer satisfaction was not a priority with this establishment and i choose not to spend my hard earned cash with a place that does not put customer satisfaction on the top of the list. .however that choice has been made for me by her with her giving me a gift card. . She didnt know who was working or who had told me what and that sounds like an issue of hers, not mine, the customer. I had offered the first time i called ,and was told they had came and didnt see the note they were in backyard, to pick up the food. The young man said the driver was heading back to my area for another delivery and he would send it with him. I waited for 30 full min before calling to be told he came a second time, which i am 100% sure he did not , because i was sitting at the door in a chair waiting so that when i saw him i could get it from him with out him fighting for a place to park due to the event at the high school. I guess i will have to accept the outcome weather i agree or not because i stupidly paid for something i hadnt received yet. Lesson learned. What happened to good faith? I felt i could pay ahead with no worries as to my food being delivered. I think that she should have refunded my money and used the incident as a learning tool for future for the employees. I had already been told they were sorry and my money was enroute to me. Only to wait and wait and finally after I HAD TO CALL, no courtesy call as to the change in plans, i was told they couldnt refund my money by the owner until after she spoke to me. Which as i stated only happened today because i called her. This is unacceptable customer service. And im sure nothing on their end was done to prevent it happening again in terms of training. Im a firm believer in treating your customers with dignity and respect. It changes everything. Had she offered my money back and had called me back so i thought she had made my issue a priority ,this would have ended differently. I definitely would have turned around and gave my money back to them and would have been a satisfied customer who would have returned. Taking that choice and making it hers, and making me feel like i was definitely not getting my money back, after all she said i already left a review on google, thats just a no brainer on how that would...
Read moreI wanted to like this place as the restaurant is promoted as being more than just your regular pizza and pasta joint. Unfortunately, mediocre food at higher than average prices is what I found. The food tasted good, Don't get me wrong. However, for what you are paying, it's overpriced... especially the pasta... and $3 for a glass of unsweetened tea is just ridiculous even with refills.
The cheese stuffed penne in Alfredo sauce was obviously store bought pasta and not freshly made in-house. The Alfredo sauce possibly was made in-house, but if so, it was with subpar ingredients. It's incredibly easy to make fresh sauce with good ingredients. Why they don't with this is beyond me. Furthermore, for over $12 in cost, more than 8 pieces of pasta would have been nice.
The lasagna looked to be pre-made, possibly frozen, and reheated as the amount of liquid water in the sauce suggested it wasn't made recently.
The containers of parmesan cheese were obviously repackaged from a larger (bulk) container, and the grated "cheese" itself looked the same as what you'd get from grocery store shelves You can tell it was repackaged because the lid had to be removed to get the grated cheese out since it was stuffed so full and even caught under the lid. For as much as you have to pay, getting freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano could have helped justify the cost a little, but instead, it looked like bulk Kraft from the grocery.
We ended up getting a pizza to go because there was so little food from the penne and lasagna dishes. It was another $30 for an 18" supreme, which was a thin crust. Very average pizza, and unfortunately, this is on par with what you'd find at other small town pizza joints regionally.
We did notice on the menu that you can buy their homemade sauce as well. Although the red sauce and Alfredo sauce do taste good, it's definitely not worth anywhere near the extravagant prices they are asking. It's not that hard to make fresh pasta sauce at home at much cheaper costs. Even some more expensive store brands are still cheaper and taste better than this.
The one thing I can complement them on is the tiramisu and cannoli, which were the best parts of the meal. Of everything we had, they tasted the best. However, I'd venture that these weren't made in-house either. They had the look of mass-produced desserts plated with extra confectionery to make it look in-house. They were better than many similar places I've eaten and offered these. Perhaps a little higher end and pricier than average, but I'd still be greatly surprised if they were proven to be made in-house.
Overall, I'd say this place is an average pizza and pasta joint, but at a higher than average price, especially for the pasta dishes. I'd recommend stopping by for the...
Read moreWe went to alfonsos today around 5 and ordered food to be delivered to my daughtere house in bridgeport because i wanted to surprise her with supper so she didnt have to cook. I paid ahead of time it was 46$. They said 45 min. . I arrived at my daughters about 6 and i went inside and said well were u surprised ? She had no idea what i was talking about because they hadnt came yet. The high school and the roads in front of her house (church st) was packed with vehicles because of graduation events. I thought perhaps that had slowed him down. I called and was told he came and no one was home. Well that was not true . She was home the entire time. I was irritated because everyone was starving and i had used all our cash on this food. They said they were sending him back over. I sat outside and waited . After 30 min i called again and they told me he came again and we didnt answer. I said this is ridiculous . I am sitting right here. Maybe he has wrong address. But he didnt . I said i personally have been sitting here waiting. Both neighbors are out and they vouch for us nobody came . I said so you are saying he is claiming that no one answered a secind time? Im sorry but hes not being truthful and the guy said thats possible. I said so now what because i am furious at this point. Well they said they would bring it again and i said listen its been 2 hours . The food is not fresh and we atill havent eatin. So i would just like my money back. He said ok and that he was sending a driver over with it. Again no one shows up. I call and im told the manager ,who is out if town, Said they cant refund my money. I really had no idea at this point of what to do. I said mam i spent all our money for supper tonight with u. If u arent refuding it we havent eatin yet and it is unfair to keep it. She said she was sorry her driver said he came 3 times and we didnt answer. Tell me ..who would do that. Order food pay for it and then keep telling them to deliver it only to not answer thedoor.. at this present time its 9pm. We never got a call from the manager and we never got our food...
