It has been over a year since I last dined at Conversion Brewery in downtown Lebanon and after todays $25+ dollar extremely burned dinner (margarita pizza and garlic knots) it’ll be 5 more years at least until I try it again. My great experience here began by going to the bar top/counter in order to order some food…the woman serving blatantly acted like she did not want to be working at all. Ignoring the poor customer service, I ordered a pizza and the knots to go. After receiving the food, I was surprised initially by how small the pizza was. It’s the size of a medium pizza from almost every other pizza restaurant…and with a much higher price as well as fewer toppings on it. But all of those things weren’t the worst part of this “experience” ….it was the extremely burned food. I understand a wood fire is just that….but the pizza and the knots were so burned, the entire dinner tasted exactly like that…very burned food and no other flavor. My entire family was extremely disappointed. After my family only had eatin 2 slices….we couldn’t do it anymore. I went to go pay for some actual edible food from somewhere else now for my family. Poor customer service + higher priced smaller portioned burned food=big negative on revisiting this place for a very long time, if ever again.

This is an update from our original review below. We made it back again and this time we tried one of their wood fired pizzas. This one happened to be the daily special and it was delicious, bacon and apples drizzled with balsamic vinegar, WOW! Of course the beer was great. We had the Brethren double IPA and toasted marshmallow Stout. And yes they do have cans of select brews available for taking home. Great brewpub! First the beer. It was our first time so we were unfamiliar with their beers and decided to go for the taster tray and were glad we did. All six beers ranged from good to exceptional. We tried IPAs, a Belgium, a Porter, a barrel aged Stout and a Wheat beer. The Wheat beer was a very pleasant surprise and turned out to be our favorite. The Food. We didn't try the wood fired pizza (next time). We had the BLT and the roasted wedge potatoes. Both very good. The BLT was a little on the wet side with the dressing the way I like it. I'm sure you can ask for it on the side if you prefer. The entire staff is just amazing.

My wife and I came here on a date and had a really good time. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a few beers and a nice appetizer. I had their hazy IPA, Firmament, and my wife had their Stout. Both brews were really solid, full of flavor and very drinkable. We had the jalapeno poppers for our appetizer and they were really delicious. The service was friendly and fantastic. We'll definitely be back to try more brews and some of their pizza!

I had planned to meet a friend for dinner and a motorcycle ride, and got here a little early. I ordered my food and paid inside, then went out to the awesome outdoor dining area. I found a table within sight of my motorcycle (that is a MUST!) that hadn't been bussed yet, but I figured I'm not too picky, and someone will eventually get it cleaned up. So I started flipping through my Instagram, and occasionally fielding questions and compliments about my motorcycle. There were about a dozen customers out there.

After about 15 minutes, a waitress grabbed the previous customer's plates and glasses, but left the mess of crumbs on the table, so I went inside, grabbed a couple of napkins, and cleaned up the table myself. Back to Instagram and my half-empty glass of iced tea…

After half an hour, I was starting to get really hungry, but hey, I'm a patient guy. I also noticed I hadn't seen a waitstaff person out there for quite a few minutes. Oh, well… my food will be here any minute. There was about a half-inch of iced tea left in my glass.

50 minutes after ordering, I decided that if it went to a full hour, I would go inside and politely ask for a refund. One last sip left in my glass… I realized that the place wasn't exactly bustling with customers, so the few of us that were there patronizing a great local business should be getting stellar service.

My receipt was being held down by my near-empty iced tea glass, so I couldn't help but notice the time I had placed my order. I was starting to get hangry. At 59 minutes, I was preparing to execute my exit strategy, but the waitress suddenly showed up with my dinner! I thanked her, but she didn't notice me holding my glass out for a refill. I got one last swig during my dinner. My dinner that was cold. Nothing like cold tacos… with freaking olives. And olives are not authentic with tacos. I hate olives.

And my friend...

Came through Lebanon and stopped here for food/beer. The pizza was great. The crust was chewy and delicious. The service was great.

Criticisms: I came on the last Sunday of the month which coincided with a singing group night. The waitress told us the table we choose would be right near the speaker so we moved to another table. She did say the singers were singing hymns. For what ever reason I assumed it would be Irish drinking songs. It wasn’t. A large crowd of people slowly amassed. Over the loud speaker they lead the establishment in prayer and starting singing Christian hymns. I’m not a Christian. I felt extremely uncomfortable when the room was praying and singing. When we asked the waiter if this was a Christian themed brewery he said no. I’m utterly confused. It’s great if you want to have people sing, and pray. Imposing on patrons coming for food and beer like this is obnoxious. Normally events like this happen in a side room or establishments get booked out so you can’t walk into something like this unless you want to be there. If you happen to stop by on a Sunday and don’t want to participate in something like this go somewhere else. I sure wish I knew before I came. This was a truly bizarre thing to have at a brewery. I don’t plant to ever return.

The beer was not great. I tried a sample of a couple of the IPA’s. They tasted flat and not appealing. I did not end up getting a pint because I didn’t think it was good at all.

I asked for a side of ranch. I think it is hidden valley ranch brand and has always had an off taste to me. Not my...

First time there, walked in and with no direction of to seat our selves or to wait to be seated we stood there for almost fifteen minutes with three waitresses talking with eachother with not a care in the world about the two groups wondering the same. So we said F it and just sat down at a table next to the three waitresses thinking they would notice. After we sat at the table for ten minutes and one waitress walked by us four times she finally asked if we needed menus, we said yes and she walked off not to see her for about another ten minutes. We watched he laugh and giggle with the two bar tenders for awhile and then she finally brought menus. At this point i was extremly frustrated. When she came back atleast ten minutes later to ask what we wanted to drink and was very snobby with me for no reason at all, my wife and i just got up and left. It seamed to me every one working there didn't care at all about the customers and cared more about flirting and messing with eachother more then taking care of the costumers in a timely fashion. Even the Cooks making the pizza seamed lazy and more interested in flirting with the waitress. I will never go back or recomend this place to anyone. Just down the rd there was a very nice brewing place with a way bigger menu and very delicious food. Sorry conversion brewing, it'd be faster to drive to Albany and drink then stop in...
