My family hosted an event at the National Public House in December. We spent $1900 for 37 people, while high, we thought we’d get are left overs, which amounts to possibly 8 dinners. We went home to have dinner, leftovers, lunch for 2? People. I said a deposit is outrageous, to keep. I did not want to have employees fired. I try to talk to the owner but he discusses the possibility he paid to much for the business?! The previous owner did not give him the deposit? Oh he paid $1,000,000 for the business. The second time I tell him the food was missing, an entire salad bowl for maybe 20? People plus. My he is quite distant. I tell him the food was gone so i’d prefer a refund. He offers a gift card. He is busy. I hear nothing back. I give him time so I just talked to him. He said his employees would never take food, that $50 per person Is ( fried chicken) acceptable due to the deposit because the restaurant is closed during that time. I said “ Why isn’t it open? That is not my fault.” He is quite cruel. “How dare I attitude!” Open the restaurant up, he has a $1,000,000 loan??!! He said everyone sure did drink?!! I said I think a whole punch bowl of alcohol was missing. I tried to avoid a situation that I will not “nit pick”. Well, with beautiful Oakmont near- by I think I’d go to a venue in a safe area for your event where sophisticated business people treat you with respect and listen. I suppose to make a business 80% fine is better than 100%. A B - is acceptable not an A++. Wel $1900 in Leechburgh? I do not recommend for a retirement, graduation or shower. I’d recommend for small dinners, however, not a large event venue. 😏 Try the Lot, 333, Cafe Monaco in picturesque Oakmont, a country club at that price. A wonderful caterer in your...
Read morePretty cool place in general. The overall environment was done well. The bar area was very cool as well. I would have given a review of very good to excellent BUT the service was only good. This wait staff needs to be trained properly for the price per plate. The front of the house manager needs to recognize when the wait staff is in the weeds. This was not done.... not even close. The food was ok. I had the pork tenderloin which has a heavy corn starch sauce over it. The meat was done fine. The sauce was ok at best. My wife had the beef fillet. Done perfectly and had very good flavor. We both had the grilled romaine salads. The grill on it was done perfectly but the dressing was so over powered with garlic, the delicate grill of the romaine was lost. The cake ball desert was awesome. Kudos on that. Here are a couple observations of my experience. 1.) Turn the lights on outside and add lights to your sign. It was very dark on the street. 2.) Explain to the wait staff NOT to ask "if you would like to taste the wine...." it is a foregone conclusion that if I am sitting in a nice restaurant that I will have a taste of the wine before it is poured. As such, don't start pouring the other glass while I am tasting mine. This is just simple training to take the wait staff to a new level. 3.) When a reservation is made, write it in the reservation book. My name was not there. Moreover, when the reservation specifically states dining room. Please seat them in the dining room not the bar. (I guess that would have worked better if our name was on the reservation list) 4.) NY Seating style in the bar area is horrible. I know why restaurants do it but it still sucks.
All this said, I am looking forward to dining there this summer to see how the chef utilizes local foods. Cool place but needs...
Read moreMy wife and I, and four other couples went there this past Saturday evening at 730 pm. We proceeded to walk into the restaurant and were promptly stopped by the hostess asking if we had reservations. Not unusual, we said we were just going to sit in the bar area, stopped again. Apparently this place, according to the manager on duty, was performing some kind of a stress test. He said they posted on their website and their Facebook that the restaurant was only open to those who had pre registered for this event. A stress test on your busiest night of the week, turning away long time customers with the excuse that it was our fault because we didn’t check your Facebook account prior to going to dinner somewhere? Really. No signage on the front door stating that the establishment was closed, so we were forced to go into the place and be turned away like a group of party crashes. Very poor showing. Not to mention the manager recommended some other restaurant for us to go to, what a gem that was. I won’t even bother mentioning this place. So here is what happened based one bad experience. Not only am I posting a bad review, but 9 other people that were with us that also frequent your establishment, all have a bad taste in our mouths because of this, and I’m certain they will pass this along to their other friends, family etc... So when the owner decides to ask how one bad experience can wreck all the other good experiences. I think of it this way, you pet a neighborhood dog everyday for 5 years, one day it bites you, do you think twice before you pet it...
