In my hometown of Mankato, MN there is a pizza place calleld Pagliai's Pizza. It's known for thick cut toppings, plenty of zesty sauce and a LOT of cheese. We have been craving pizza like that, having lived here for over 5 years, and we were referred to Great Chicago Fire Brewery & Tap Room. Tonight being Pi Day, we decided to try it. From an atmosphere standpoint, it's sort of a typical dive-bar vibe, with dollar bills and Illinois license plates on the walls, corrugated steel, and plenty of Chicago memorabilia. We sat inside, but there is plenty of out-door seating available as well. The frienly staff has a down-home bar sort of approach, and it helped make the visit a pleasant one. They made us feel like regulars, even though this was our first visit. Super nice, super helpful, and super welcoming, in a very relaxed sort of way. Let's talk about the pizza. While it is not exactly like Pagliai's, this may well be the best pizza I have had since moving South. We ordered pepperoni & sausage, and they advertise a Chicago-style thin-crust. The crust was crisp and thin, but still has substance. The sauce bends nicely into the pie. The meats were hearty portions, with chunky sausage and large slices of pepperoni. But the cheese - oh the cheese - so much cheese! When I pulled the slices away, the cheese was stringing from the slice to the pie! SO good! Best of all, the price was really reasonable! As you can tell, there is no doubt we will get pizza from Great Chicago Fire again - probably soon! if you're a fan of cheesy thin-crust pizza, definitely stop by!

Extremely disappointed as a native Chicagoan. Pizza crust was not cooked through and was not freshly made. I had specifically requested the pizza be well done and crust crispy. It was not. Sausage was very average tasting, with no fennel flavor at all. There seems to be a consensus on the pizza as seen in the review below. Tamales were hard in spots - not sure how that could happen, as when my mom bought them, they came frozen individually wrapped in plastic and the directions said to boil in the plastic. Perhaps it is now in the directions to microwave, which could have caused the hard spots. Hot dog was soggy and bun totally fell apart and had to be eaten with a fork. Bar was hopping, but only one person working bar, taking table orders, and serving food so service was slower than molasses. We were there for a few minutes shy of 2 hours and were not there for a leisurely lunch. On a side note - not one employee (or people who were assisting the employees but not employees) had any kind of facial covering on. There was absolutely no social distancing taking place or precautionary measures followed on the inside of the establishment. On a side note - they did offer outside space for drinking in the rear of the restaurant, and one table out front to eat. Their craft beer selection was very unique and interesting and had some tasty selectuons.

I wanted to like it i really did but I just couldn't recommend or visit again. First the Chicago hot dog was not a good the bun was stale the dog was about as big around as my middle finger. Not a good value. It was rubbery I asked the waitress if this was a Vienna dog because it not taste like it. Very disappointing as I said I have to be honest not good at all. The tamales were dry as dry can be they were microwaved. The pizza was ok not great see picture it was not cooked it was doughy tasted more like flour tortilla. We ordered water wife and daughter said it was terrible wife asked waitress she said it was city water she said she used it to water the plants but did offer bottled water. I would say if you want true Chicago its worth the drive to Portillos. The people were nice but this place was dead. I would have given this one star but the beer we ordered was good.

I've heard about this place from several people, so decided to try it today. I'm writing this while we finish our food. We drove just under an hour to get here from Orlando. Honest opinion: The gyros was okay, the pizza puff was original but way overpriced, the Italian beef was okay. The gravy is marginally more flavorful than Portillo's, but the meat is the consistency of Arby's, and the bread falls apart without even being dipped making for a mess. The beefs and bread at Portillo's are much better. My brother said the tamales were a 3 on a scale of 1-5. We thought about ordering a hotdog but decided against it.

The pizza at the table next to us looked very unappealing...I'll stick with Giordano's.

Total cost for my son and I after ordering only an Italian Beef (no peppers), Gyros, pizza puff, and one bottle of Hawaiian Punch and one bottle of RC. No chips. No fries. Total without tip was just over $31.

My brother had an Italian Beef (with hot and sweet), an order of Tamales, and a bottle of RC...it was just over $25.

We saw the pizza at the next table and it did NOT look appetizing at all...I'll stick with Giordano's.

In conclusion, if there wasn't a Portillo's anywhere nearby this would be an acceptable place to get a Chicago "fix" once in a while...but it doesn't hold a candle to Portillo's in my opinion. My brother, who was also born and raised in Chicago, said the same.

I do like the hotdog stand/neighborhood bar atmosphere...and the lady working the bar and serving the food was very nice.

In my opinion, it was not worth a two hour round trip from Orlando. There are much better and more affordable options here when we visit. On a scale of 1-5, I give the entire...

The waitress was extremely rude and the food was eh. PT2 Im not quite sure how to respond to replys to reviews of I'll take this as a way to respond 🤷🏻‍♀️ the food tasted like it came from a microwave. I got the gyro and the meat was rubbery and tough and the bread was ice cold like it had just came out the freezer. Like it had just finished thawing. It was me and my friends first time there. The waitress would refuse to talk to me and one of my other friends and only talked to the third friend. Im not sure who the waitress was since there was no name tag or anything and she didn't introduce herself. The interaction went like this. Me: hi table for 3 please. Waitress: slams menus down here. Friend 2: orders us drinks. Waitress: ignores us and asks friend 3 what she wants. Only friend 3 got her drink. We just asked for water* me: tries to order food. Waitress: glares at me and cuts my order off to ask friend 3 what she wants. Friend 3 got her food immediately and friend 2 and I had to wait half an hour. I got the gyro, friend 2 got a hot dog and friend 3 got a pizza*. When I tried to pay she looked at me and said "you sure you got enough money on the thing?" Referencing to my card. I am a college student but we finally had enough to go out for dinner. This interaction and the way I was treated made me never want to go back. I tried my friends pizza and it was good and ended up having half of it since my food was like chewing through...
