After a long day of shopping, (and an unexpected tire purchase) My wife and I had just picked up our other car at the shop where I was given the daunting task of getting something to eat. MY wife said she wasn't hungry so it was my choice. I was clear on the west side of lehigh Acres and thought of a bbq place I had seen in the strip mall EUREKA! That's it! only to pull up and see that they were closed. (It was 6:30pm) Okay no problem! I passed every fast food joint along lee blvd. and wouldn't stop as the lines went clear around the buildings. I had a quick decision to make as I was swiftly approaching homestead road due I try for the other three fast foodies?? Nope!! I pressed on and quickly convinced myself that I would go on home and eat peanut butter and jelly. Just as I came to Williams, where I normally turn, I saw a bright light in the distance. OH YEAH!! I still have hope for a hot meal......The Family Food Truck is down there!! Filled with a renewed joy of the season in hopes of a full belly I poised my truck for our approach and caught a glimpse of the marquee (Today's Special BBQ Plate) surely this is a sign? well literally it was a sign. I was Greeted by a Gentleman with a smile and a menu as he confidently explained what my choices were. I asked "What about the BBQ plate?" Three meat choices!! and a list of sides that I heard something, something, COLLARD GREENS,something, something, POTATO SALAD. Yup That's for me! The gentleman swiftly went into action and instructed his Daughter " Get your MOM" Out from the building next door comes mom. As a team they prepared my food. Now a strange twist.............anticipation.................. I'm handed a Tamale with a shot of salsa verde??? OMG (I'm from Texas) grew up in El Paso and spent much of my youth back and forth in Juarez Mexico. It's not Christmas without Tamales!!! Perfection,,Then She tells her husband to get me a bowl of Charro beans.. My ears perk up and I"m trying to contain myself. He tells me I put a Roasted Jalapeno in there for you. A Man after my own heart!!! He nervously exclaimed wait don't eat that yet! I'm thinking "Excuse me?" then pulls a freshly made tortilla off the press and hand it to me. Meanwhile I had been ignoring my phone as my wife was wondering where I was..I thanked them, drove off, and called my wife explaining everything. I got home and opened up my container .two pieces of bread and heaping helpings of Potato salad and collard greens and half a slab of Ribs!! my wife (who wasn't hungry) Grabbed a plate for herself and said I didn't know you were getting REAL FOOD. Followed by How much was all of this? Where I stated $10. She exclaimed WOW! The question at hand is would I recommend to others to eat here? I advise others to eat here! And I can't wait to go back !! They are open Thurs, Fri, and Sat. only so take advantage and pick up a full Home cooked meal at Fast...
Read moreSo me and my beautiful little wife just discovered this place online. Let me start off by saying this is some of the best food I have found in southwest Florida in my 6 years being here. 53 years old white male spent most of my life living in Los Angeles California. I was raised with a Mexican family. I promise you I know what I'm talking about when I say I know a good Mexican food. I'm from South Central Los Angeles. That being said this food is muy delicioso.. we will be going back as soon as possible meaning probably tomorrow night. I got the carne asada fries supreme. SOOOOOO GOOD! And a huge serving. worth every penny. Actually they should be charging more. My wife got a carne asada burrito it's bigger than her leg. All the ingredients are fresh the food is seasoned to perfection. Top notch I almost shed a tear because it felt like my abuela was cooking for me once again.... I only feel bad because my wife didn't get their name. Family run family-owned and it's beyond amazing. We will be back soon. thank you so much for the delicious food. Family food truck is now part of the...
Read more2024 update. So glad to have the truck back! The food is still amazing and home made. Fresh chips, home made tortillas, wings, burgers and bean soup. Glad you’re back, missed you sooooo much.
The Family Food Truck is the best. Its my new must go to place in Lehigh and it will be yours soon as well. Everything is freshly made and you can definitely taste the difference when its freshly made. The fresh tortillas (both flour and corn) are the best in Lehigh and you can take that to the bank. They have all your Mexican favorites, carnitas, pastor, asada, chicken, beef and shredded beef. You can have the tacos Mexican (onions, cilantro) or American style (lettuce, cheese, sour cream). Not in the mood for Mexican food, that’s ok because they have burgers and chicken wings with fires. We ordered chicken wings as well and were blown away by the size of the wings and the flavor for the money spent. If your looking for something fresh and delicious stop by and give this a try, you won’t be disappointed. I'm following you and can't wait till you come to Tampa for a food...
