If you’re Peruvian then this review is for you. We were seated promptly, we read reviews before coming in because that’s what we do. According to reviews this place is good. We originally ordered ceviche de pascado, aji de gallena, jalea, and chaufa. My husband is from Lima, Peru. (I only mention this because it matters for later in the review. Keep reading.) We know what Peruvian food should taste like, of course when you eat out, it’s not going to be just like Peru, but it should be close with spices and such. The ceviche we sent back because it was not good what so ever. We ordered the Lomo Saltado to replace the ceviche. (Sorry we didn’t take a picture of the Lomo.)

Ceviche de pascado: if we could give this 0 stars we would. There was absolutely no flavor to it. Taste like complete raw fish in old lime. The fish should be a little cooked by the acid in the lime. It was completely raw without allowing it to cook. It had no flavor. It should’ve had rocoto, aji spices, salt, ginger and leche de Tigre. (If you know, you know.)

Aji de gallena: we would give this a 4.5 out of 10. It was okay, not the best, but not the worst. Rice was a tad dry.

Jalea: we would give this the highest rating at a 7.5 out of 10. It was pretty good. Fried nicely, and the fish was soft inside. Sauces that go with it were flavorful.

Chaufa: we would give this a 7, it had flavor and the rice was moist and did taste pretty close to how it should.

Lomo Saltado: we would give this a 0 star rating as well. (This plate replaced our ceviche) the meat was super dry, the rice was dry, and it lacked flavor. If you know Lomo, you know it’s suppose to be packed full of flavor and be moist meat and all. It was not that. At all. Wouldn’t recommend.

When we sent back the ceviche, the lady with the glasses (who we presume is the owner) came over to our table. Did not apologize for how the food was given to us, but then proceeded to basically argue with my husband about how ceviche tastes and that’s how it’s made. She then asked him where he was from. Which then he responded he was from Lima and knew exactly how ceviche should taste and that was not it. When we went to pay for our meal, she was there to receive payment and still went on about the ceviche. And that our ceviche was the first to ever be sent back to the kitchen after being served. To which my husband responded “I’ve been to many Peruvian restaurants and your food is terrible.” She then got quiet.

If you made it this far… It was a very unprofessional experience, would not recommend if you’re looking for authentic Peruvian food. If there was another Peruvian restaurant in the area, we’re positive she would run hers into the ground, if there was competition. Especially with her attitude. As a business owner you should take positive criticism and try to fix where you’re messing up. Especially, from people who are equipped with the taste and know exactly how Peruvian food should taste, no matter where you are in the world. (The flavor...

I have to say, the best judge of Peruvian food is another Peruvian born and raised in Peru. It could be a restaurant's greatest reviewer or a nightmare.

I have eaten at this location at least three times and every time, I always hope for improvement and the best. But everytime is a great disappointment.

This time, I had the arroz chaufa and I have to say growing up in Peru, I don't recall eating a lot of arroz chaufa or going to a CHIFA restaurant. I was poor and having grapes was a treat to remember. So, I say the arroz chaufa was tasty. I liked it to a point. This summer I am going to Peru and I will try arroz chaufa in Lima then I will give a better review.

My wife tried ANTICUCHOS, which is made with cow's heart cut in slices and marinated with AJI PANCA and other seasonings, Well stir fried then served in a stick like a KEBAP. They must be well cooked because animal hearts can have parasites like HEART WORMS and it can kill your heart. They are delicious when properly marinated and cooked. You cannot chose how well you want the meat cooked like medium rare. There is no such a thing in Peruvian Anticuchos. I had plenty growing up but what is served in ANTOJITOS DEL PERU is a great disappointment and a danger to anyone's health. After, discovering the heart slices were still bloody, we requested to have it properly cooked only to have it returned the same way. We gave up. The part that was cooked had no flavor and it was cut in chunks instead of slices.

I spoke to the owner or manager only to have the response of SOME PEOPLE HERE IN THE US LIKE MEDIUM RARE.

It reminded a complaint from the last time I was there and it was about the LOMO SALTADO cooked without yellow pepper or AJI AMARILLO. The same person told me they dont use because Americans don't like spicy.

I also noted with the ANTICUCHOS, PAPA A LA HUACAINA salsa appeared to have been made with mayonnaise and coloring. The consistency of the sauce is not PERUVIAN and the flavor and color either.

Eating at this place is a TERRIBLE example of our INTERNATIONALLY known PERUVIAN GASTRONOMÍA.

PLEASE DONT THROW YOUR MONEY AT THIS RESTAURANT.

They change all the true flavors of our food to please the American paladar and makes it more like american food that resembles Peruvian food and make you believe this is Peruvian food. There is no excuse for not having the right ingredients. If they are not going to cook it right then they shouldn't call it Peruvian food.

Ask any Peruvian in Kansas City that may have eaten there and they will tell...

Such a terrible experience. As I walked in, I asked if they had seco de carne and they said yes. 30 mins after we made our order, waiter comes and says they did not have it. That was the main reason we walked in for!! Even though that, I just stayed and ate. As I was leaving (had to wait other 10 minutes for the owner to come out of the kitchen since she is cashier as well ) I was astonished that the owner of the restaurant did not even apologize for the miscommunication on their end. She said, I could go anywhere else. How rude! The organization is just terrible. The owner seems to do everything (cook & cashier which to me is such a bad combinations either you are making food or handling money!) , waiter does not know the dishes, SERVICE IS JUST SO POOR and the food is not that even good. Ceviche has way too much garlic and the fish doesn't even seem fresh. Other appetizers are miniatures. Tamales were dry and didn't have...

Today was my first and final time eating at this place. The wait time took about 45 minutes and there was only one table (party of 2) ahead of us not to mention there was only 2-3 full tables prior to us and they had already began eating. Our wait time was still a bit much. The quality of the food though was not bad at all. I did enjoy the plate of the mixed seafood and rice I ordered. The biggest complaint I had was the very long dark hair that was buried at the bottom of my plate of food which turned my stomach upside down after I saw it. I told the waiter and in Spanish she said “Que mal suerte te tocó chico” basically meaning “wow you have bad luck young man” and never asked how to could correct this issue. I will not return back to this place. Wearing hairnets would be my first suggestions to the young ladies there.
