Read moreOn August 17, 2025, while returning from a family trip to Pigeon Forge, we stopped at the Cracker Barrel located at 716 North Campbell Station Road. I was with a group of ten, which included a close friend — a gay Black man.
Upon entering the restaurant, I briefly stepped away to use the restroom. When I returned, my wife informed me that our friend was visibly upset. An older white woman working at the cash register had repeatedly walked in front of the registers, closely watching him wherever he moved in the restaurant. She never approached him to offer assistance — she simply watched him, making it painfully clear that she was suspicious of him without cause.
It was clear to both of us that he was being racially profiled. It was humiliating and deeply offensive.
I immediately requested to speak with the manager and asked why the cashier was behaving that way. The manager responded that they had issues with theft in the past and the cashier was “just doing her job.” This explanation only made the situation worse. As someone with a professional background in Human Resources, I can confidently say that this was not only inappropriate but also a gross violation of basic anti-discrimination principles.
To make matters worse, the cashier later discussed my complaint with another guest — a clear breach of privacy and professionalism.
I am a 50-year-old man, and I have not witnessed such blatant racism since I was a child. What happened at that Cracker Barrel was not only disrespectful — it was disgusting. In 2025, it is unacceptable that such behavior is still tolerated, especially within a nationally recognized company like Cracker Barrel.
I believe the employee in question, along with the manager who defended her actions, should be held accountable. Allowing employees to treat guests in such a discriminatory and degrading manner tarnishes the company’s reputation and violates the values Cracker Barrel...
Read moreThis is hands down the worst Cracker Barrel We have ever experienced ! We arrived just after 5PM and to our delight they weren't busy, but we were sat away in the back! Waitress came before we could get off our coats and seemingly was frustrated that we didnt know what we wanted to eat? We had been doing last minute Christmas shopping it was cold and blustering outside and we were looking forward to a hot meal, that is Not what we got! Food was barely warm ( and because we were sat in the very back, quickly became Cold ! ) the country fried steak was overcooked and smelled as though it had been Microwaved ! We paid an Upcharge for both Broccoli Casserole and a Loaded Baked sweet potato the Broccoli in the casserole was Raw! The Sweet potato was disintegrated! The biscuits and corn bread were as though they had been in the basket all day and were sparse! Not to mention doughy and butter would not even melt on them! Awful! We have given up on Craker Barrel and it is a shame that a waitress with 5 stars on her apron would even serve food like this... Much less never return to the table to ask if everything was okay? First, if you dont have Broccoli Casserole, and you only have " Steamed Broccoli, dont serve that to me and charge me an Xtra $1.99 for it, I could have changed my order if given that courtesy! Shame on you Cracker Barrel ! You must do Better! Especially in this particular area! We had given up on Cracker Barrel until. We visited one in Cocke County TN and it was Fantastic! So, we certainly thought that Lenoir City would have gone over and beyond considering the Upscale area that this Particular part of Loudon County brags to be... We will just Find our " Meat and 3 " In a Private Sector or small business restaurant where we dont pay $ 42 for trash! True story! My food was left...
