So, in town again, and getting hungry. Actually, at this point, famished. So against the initial warning of my son, and in the need of something quick (we thought), we head for Blissful burgers. After the initial price shock of over $12 just for a burger (well, it is vegan), we order (over $36 a breakfast sandwich a burger and onion rings) and wait and wait,.. and wait. Not sure how long we waited, but the burgers finally came with an apology and an awesome shake. It was the only good memory. *No pictures. Just a lunch bag. $36 for two sandwiches and onion rings. I could have gotten dressed up for that somewhere else and gotten a lot more food.
While I really appreciate the gesture for taking so long, I don't feel like the individuals running this place are equipped to do it efficiently. While placing the order I asked about other accompaniments or condiments, to which I was told they were 75 cents each, except for the ketchup.
*Without the complimentary drink that I would taste after I choked on the burger, this establishment would have only received a one at Best.
There seems to be numerous pop up vegan restaurants in San Antonio. But until people realize we pay the price not just because of vegan, but for quality, they are doomed to fail. But for those shopping for the hype or the new trend of eating vegan, those that are seriously trying to put good things in their body will not frequent the restaurants skipping on those essential ingredients like quality, whole grain or sourdough bread for instance. Harris hopes that they do better. Adjusting the prices and the quality to someday actually serve a...
Read moreMy review, is literally in the name..."Blissful Burgers". I ordered the 'Blissful Burger' (A+), blissed fries (A+), chili cheese dawg (A+) and mushrooms (D+).
The burgers were great. Not only are they delicious they are juicy. I've had my fair share of dry vegan burgers but that is not the case here. With it's robust flavor, it is hard to distinguish it from a cooked meat burger. So, you get all the flavor without the heaviness and guilt of eating meat. When I tell you that these burgers are a homerun, they hit every base... presentation, taste and sustainability!
When it was time to eat the hot dog, I literally had to cut it with a knife, in small pieces, to make sure it wasn't meat. Everything about that dawg was so GOOD. I wish they had a combo where you could get a burger and a dawg. They can call it the "Blissed combo"
Now I'm not going to lie, I was a little skeptical about the french fries only having three ingredients...fries, cheese and grilled onions but you need these fries in your life. For starters the fries are cooked and season to PERFECTION. Slathered in cheese and grilled onions, this is the kind of thing you eat sitting on your couch while enjoying the game.
The only good thing about the mushrooms were that they were hot and fresh. Only if they would have seasoned their mushrooms the way they seasoned their fries and their burgers. We wished we had not ordered...
Read moreI really enjoyed this place and it was my go to spot but the last few times I've been I noticed they hired some new employees. I saw one red head guy pick up the phone the same phone that the front register person taking orders and cash uses with his gloves on that he uses to make food then he repositions his white Bluetooth hear buds with the same hand and then continues to make food. This is gross. Also the other new guy working the front also, after handling cash goes to grab the sauce bottle with his bare hands the same bottles the line cooks use and puts it in a cup to serve. This is cross contamination, i don't want to eat ear wax or whatever other germs are on peoples hands handling cash. The front person handling cash and cards should never handling anything else on the food line or make anything unless properly washing hands and putting on gloves. Also the line cooks should never handle anything else but food and preparations. This should be well known and followed by all restaurants but sadly I guess its not the case. I wont be gong back unless they respond to this review stating they disinfected all the bottles they use to make food and anything else food related and made sure their employees follow guidelines to the T...
