I went in with two firearms to have custom holsters made. One of which was a light bearing OWB holster.
I was happy to have received both holsters in such a short amount of time… until I got home. My light bearing gun move around WAY too much within the holster itself, and it slipped right out when fully loaded with no way to adjust the retention.
I went back in to maybe have them correct the issue. Jim greeted me and I explained to him what my issue was. Jim explained to me (in his best condescending way) that I had a weapon light and if my my holster were any tighter I would never be able to get my gun out of the holster.
I let Jim know that I was not comfortable carrying the holster with that level of retention and I’ve never owned a holster that held the gun so loosely while the gun sits in the holster. It was quickly apparent to me that Jim would not be considering a fix to the issue so I just asked for a refund.
I was able to speak with one of the owners during the refund process who politely explained the issue was due to my weapon light being wider than the gun itself. He said the tension was actually more loose before he assisted one of his guys in making it tighter which was even more surprising to me. This tells me there is little to no quality control before moving products out. To be fair he did also say he would go back and take a look at everything to see what could be done. Unfortunately for me the damage was done. The owner was able to complete a full refund and I’ll be buying elsewhere.
Other holster companies are able to accommodate a weapon light without sacrificing safe weapon retention and the fact that they would try to justify this is really disappointing. I’ve bought holsters from them when they first came around and they’ve made little to no progress in in fit, finish or design. There are several other holster manufacturers out there that are similarly priced with WAY better quality. Just do your research. This company has been in business for too long to still be putting out such a low quality product. I cannot in good faith recommend their holsters. I’m really hoping they can do better...
Read moreI have purchased both iwb and owb holsters for my edc pistol several years ago from On Your 6 Designs. I’ve worn these every single day for 8 years. I’m more likely to wear the IWB to my construction job for its ability to conceal below my tool pouch belt. I’m very active in my job, often climbing and crawling to accomplish tasks. I have gotten my holstered pistol caught on framing members and after 8 years, I cracked my holster. I went to On Your 6 we site and got excited about the new designs they offer, then realized my holster might be covered with the lifetime warranty. When I reached out to ask, I was pleased to hear that it would be covered and a replacement was sent almost immediately. Then my postal carrier misplaced my package. I waited for an investigation that lasted weeks. They eventually said I was out of luck and sorry about that, but that I’d have to contact the seller and see if they would help me out. I didn’t want to pass on the cost of doing business with the USPS, especially when it was a warranty item. I created and order for the newly designed holster I was excited to get and added my story in the comment section of the order. Minutes later I got a call from On Your 6 Designs, they wanted to fulfill the warranty order without charge to me and even upgraded my order to the new design. I can’t express what this degree of integrity means to me in this day and age. Not only do their products hold up for years of rough duty, but they take customer service seriously and treated me as valuable as I see their products. Thank you On Your 6 Designs for being a stellar example of what creator of lifetime warranted products ought to be! P.S. I also bought the NexBelt and it has increased the comfort and carrying...
Read moreIt will take longer to get your holster then say, one from Amazon Prime. But after the back and forth I went through of trying to order a holster from other places and having it either not work or be of poor quality the wait is well worth it. The wait I understand is because they make everything custom, and once that happens it's just a matter of shipping time. All in all, I live on the other side of the country from On Your 6 Designs and I had my holster in about two weeks from time of order.
Out of the box the IWB pancake Kydex holster with a black carbon fiber finish was impressive. Very solid, perfect finish, smooth uniform edges, it's probably the nicest holster I own. The gun I bought it for is an older firearm that was not in production long before the manufacturer released later generations that were different enough to make finding a holster not straight forward. That said this holster locks the gun in tight and really couldn't be a better match for it. Wearing it is comfortable and feels like it's part of my clothing regardless if I'm wearing jeans, gym pants or a suit. I don't wear loose, baggy clothes and I've had some holsters that just feel weird in anything besides gym pants.
If I have anything to say regarding a possible area for improvement from On Your 6, as weird as it may seem, is in the available gear. Their logo is cool. I want some...
