Umm wow. Here we are, out-of-towners, wondering if there'd be a place here with some legit coffee that serves good dairy free options, and we found The Blue lantern. My hubs and I are currently on a very restricted diet and cannot have sugar so we thought flavor was out of the question. But WHATT?!!! STEVIA flavoring?!? We were blown away. Our bigger, more-urban hometown has never offered such a thing. We gave it a shot (no pun intended), and, even though the stevia flavor was a bit overwhelming (would've definitely preferred less flavor), the coffee itself is delicious. Even the decaf shots we had to get were smooth and yummy under the stevia flavor. The barista who took care of us did just that: took care of us. She was sweet and patient and willing to remake our drinks if we didn't care for what we tried. Solidly impressed. If we're ever back we know our coffee stop. Thank you Blue Lantern for taking care of these...

You can even see the large old vault from its old bank days. Beautiful plants surround the front eating area and there are a few outdoor seating spots. I LOVE that they carry a good selection of loose leaf teas (local company!) and a handful of local artist items, like earrings, greeting cards, etc. Service was kind and quick. The traditional macchiato was good yet intense - (which it truly was authentic!) I also had a raspberry rose tea latte and it was excellent. The scones were divine! So moist and flavorful. Adored the beautiful cups they used for our drinks as well. Loved the atmosphere here and definitely enhanced our short visit...

Gon (sp?) went above and beyond the Baristo role while I was there. Storyteller, historian, local promoter, and travel guide, we covered a myriad of topics in my cup-of-coffee-length time there.
The historic building is gorgeous! It's worth the trip alone, but that's not to undersell the locally roasted coffee. I also took a scone with me, but am bummed, as I was not told these would be some of the better scones I'd ever eaten in my life. Had I known, I would've bought far more.
This place will be an "always stop" place for me when I find myself in the area in the future. I surely...
