I am really quite disappointed. Ever since they came to Lewiston in January, they have been my favorite, go-to restaurant. But...the quality of service and food has gone downhill since then. I tried ordering online twice, and each time I paid for two 16 oz of rice and did not receive them. Doing the math, that is four containers of 16 ounces of rice total not received. Each time I contacted them and was told they would put my name in the book so I could receive the product I already paid for. I was only allowed to redeem one of these... which, mind you, were actual items I already paid for! So, I began calling in to order instead, since obviously online is too confusing. Again, I paid for 16 oz of rice and did not receive it. I called in and the manager stated they would give me a refund... which they did not. Now this alone, is extremely annoying and very bad business because I kept giving them money without getting what I paid for. Also, I have overlooked how their quality of food has gone downhill since they started. They took the cloves and seasoning out of the basmati rice and went to plain old rice... Ok, we over look that since the food is good. But hey, prices go up and quality goes down. Even the garlic naan has gotten plain. Now let's look at the spice level. Why do they even ask when the metric is so random? Generally, it's order a 3, maybe get a 4, a 3, or a 2. But this last time, both my husband and I order a 3, and get a 0. What?! Paying almost $70 for two people to eat and you can't even get the order right. I am so disappointed because I come in so much and have loved the food. After trying to get a resolution with the manager, who does not seem to care anymore, I have given up hope. We will not return again. It is quite sad. But, we will drive to Moscow or Spokane if we want Indian food from now on. I will save my money for a company that values...
Read moreWe felt like having Indian food and I remembered that this place now exists and we hadn't tried it yet. When we got there we were greeted well and took a little bit to figure out the menu. The menu was a little difficult to figure out what a typical meal was like. I referred to photos that others took to help me figure it out. We got the chicken curry and the lamb chops. We also got the Mango Lassi. The chicken was good, the sauce was very good and we got the level 3 spice, which I felt like was perfect. The lamb was excellent. It was tender and tasted great. The cohesion of the lamb dish was nice because it came with rice, a salad (which was tasty because it had a seasoning on it) on a plate together. The chicken came with rice and flat bread, but these were all given in separate dishes and we were given plates to combine the rice and chicken and flat bread and eat it in a more traditional way I am guessing. It just doesn't make sense to me to serve the lamb one way and the others the other way, but that's just me. I can see it being useful if we both got something from the bowl section. The mango drink was great and the service was good. The food took a while to get out, especially considering we were the only table there at the time. I can see how this might be a much longer wait if it was super busy. Overall though, I am glad we have an Indian restaurant in town now and we will be back. I hope the inside gets adjusted to look less like Tapped and more...
Read moreWhat a great place! Absolutely delicious food and the menu has a wide variety of classic, regional Indian dishes. The Mango Tree adds much needed diversity to the LC Valley dining scene. We visited them within their first month of operation in downtown Lewiston and they were well prepared - on a Sunday night no less, a tough day and time to find anything other than fast food in this part of the country! The service was good. On a cold night in January though, the industrial warehouse-type space and decor was a little drafty, but the food was terrific and warmed us right up.
Mango Tree is BY FAR the best place to go in Lewiston and Clarkston for people with food allergies - especially those who are celiac. Roughly 75% of the listed menu items are naturally wheat-free without any modifications. Many of the dishes are also naturally vegan, again, without any modifications. So those with allergies to wheat, eggs, dairy, fish and shellfish can order right along with those of us lucky enough to not have a food allergy to deal with in our daily lives. Diversity, equity and inclusion in action!
