Our family toured New England on vacation and Alexander's was my favorite food stop of all - and one of my favorite stops period. After hours of driving we were all hungry and tired and decided to grab lunch there on our way to Lexington Green.
It's located in a small strip next to a barber shop, and has all the feel of a hidden gem. As soon as you open the door the deliciousness smacks you right in the nose.
There's not much dining area but that's okay because they move folks quickly ordering at the counter. I also love their menu and selection because while the kids and my wife wanted pizza, I was hankering for a gyro.
When we arrived, they were out of slices of the pizza my wife wanted to try, and immediately offered to refill the warmer and get us fresh pizza in ten minutes or less - which they did.
We ordered cheese pizza for the boys, mushroom, onion, and green pepper for my wife (as well as a salad), and I ordered a gyro, and added a fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie too. Prices were fair and portions big - especially the salad (this will be relevant later).
Everyone loved the pizza, which was hot and delicious and super fresh. The gyro was the best I've ever had, and I've tried them at a lot of places all over America at this point. The gyro has fries inside it, which elevated the whole thing. Super fresh ingredients, perfectly toasted pita, and delicious seasoning.
The cookie was the perfect finish - gooey chocolate chips and a thick, dense, satisfying dough.
Even better than the food was the service, which made it memorable for our family. We are usually a very conscientious bunch, but for some reason we were all a bit accident prone that day - especially me. No sooner had we grabbed our drinks and sat at the counter than my youngest dumped his water all over the counter and floor. As we fumbled around trying to find napkins to clean up the mess, the owner rushed out with a towel and took over, insisting with a smile that we not worry about it.
A few minutes later we had another accident, and once again as we apologized he came around and started cleaning up, smiling and joking with us and our kids the whole time.
We finished eating and I gathered up the trash to throw away, including the last half of the huge salad my wife couldn't finish.
As I tried to slide the trash in the bin, I snagged the bowl on the side and spilled salad and junk everywhere. Mortified, I immediately tried to clean it up. For the THIRD time during our visit, the guys came out and insisted I stop cleaning up, said not to worry about it and smiled and laughed the whole time.
As soon as we were back in the car, that visit actually gave us a teachable moment with our three sons, talking about the power of a good attitude and a sense of humor, and how it is one of the keys to success in life, especially when things aren't going well.
Love this place and cannot recommend it highly enough. Make sure if you're anywhere near, you stop in and try Alexander's.
They made a stressful day better in every way...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Romano's Pizza in Acton, MA, and I must say it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The cozy ambiance of the restaurant set the perfect tone for a relaxed evening of good food and company. Also Romanos Pizza have a delicious Brazilian 🇧🇷 Menu which I love so much and being a Brazilian I very happy to have in Acton MA a Pizza place that cares about costumers like Romanos Does!!!! The menu offered a wide variety of pizza options, from classic margherita to specialty pizzas with unique toppings. I opted for their signature Romano's Special pizza, and I was blown away by the perfect balance of flavors and the freshness of the ingredients. The crust was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just the way I like it.
Aside from the pizzas, the menu also featured a selection of appetizers, salads, and pasta dishes. I tried their garlic knots as a starter, and they were simply addictive - warm, fluffy, and packed with garlic flavor.
The service at Romano's Pizza was top-notch. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure that my dining experience was nothing short of excellent.
Overall, I highly recommend Romano's Pizza to anyone looking for delicious, authentic Italian cuisine in Acton, MA. Whether you're a fan of traditional pizzas or looking to try something new, this restaurant is sure to satisfy your cravings. I can't wait to return and explore more of their...
Read moreI have had a craving for a gyro (pronounced 'yee-ro' because some of you don't know that yet) and was in the area, the reviews looked good and the one about them having the best gyro in the area really intrigued me. My friend and I entered and the man at the counter appeared to be of Greek heritage, so this might actually be shaping up to be yum. Then it all went to Hades. During the order, he asked 'chicken or beef?'. It too me a moment to realize he meant for the gyro, because that's not what they're made of...not the authentic ones at least. Then something about putting fries on top. No, don't do that. Anyways - maybe there was something special about the chicken or beef and this was going to turn out to be amazing. We sit and wait for our order and another customer comes in, sallies up to the bar and orders, I shiz you not, a JY-RO (recall our pronunciation tip at the beginning? it's not pronounced like in 'gyroscope'. I mean, how do you differentiate a gyro and a gyro otherwise? As it turns out, I firmly believe what we got was a JYRO, because it sure wasn't a gyro. I feel sorry for the guy that think this is the best JYRO...
