My husband and I have visited a couple of times in the past couple of weeks. It had been a little bit since we had visited due to the pandemic and what I felt like was a decline in the food quality. The first visit was after my husband had gotten off after work and he needed something to eat and some quality time together. We got the skins, and the Club Sandwich and it was delicious (I had one bite). They are open till 2:30 no matter what and there was no band, so it was very enjoyable. When there is a band it's just too loud and crowded. We sat at the bar, so service is fast, and our needs were met. In and out no problem!
This past week we went twice, the first night we both got tacos. He had the steak and I the fish and they were everything I wanted and probably some of the best fish tacos I have had. The fish was flaky and fried just right and the toppings were just enough to not be too messy and ruin the texture of the taco. My husband's steak ones were very good too. Last night's trip was after work and again no band, (which we prefer) seem to be the regulars there having a good time and we didn't have to wait long for service. My husband had one of the burgers and it was of ample size and deliciousness served with chips that are made in house and have just the right amount of seasoning and crunch. I had the BLT and let's get into it.... For a BLT, this was one of the best I have ever had, even at home. The bread was toasted with butter like a grilled cheese, so it held up and had good crunch. It was not overpowered with lettuce nor tomato and was well dressed in mayo. And they definitely did not skimp on the bacon! Most places will give you a couple of slices torn in half and call it a day. Banners BLT had probably six (6) full slices to make up this sandwich and brought it all together. That is how you make a BLT and is probably one of my favorite sandwiches now. My only complaint was/is that the music is most times too loud for the space, but never a deal breaker. Will be going back as a late-night stop with the hubs and because I love to support local businesses. I'll try better to take pics next time, just like to be in the moment...
Read moreWe were in the area and wanted to try something different. Google had Banners at a 4.5. I have no idea how they have such a high rating because the experience was awful. We ordered an appetizer and then food a bit later. We waited and waited for the appetizer and then our entrees came out. I told the food runner. “I guess you can cancel the appetizer”. Her response was “It is already made, I am about to bring it out”. What? I was noticeably irritated.
Nothing about any part of the meal was good. The Buffalo Chicken Dip was not good. I had two bites and couldn’t eat any more. My husband did eat it because he didn’t want to “waste” it. He said, “they put tomatoes and onions on the top to make it unique but it made it worst.” The dip came with chips, celery, and carrots. The carrots had not been cut properly and the veggies were so wet that water puddled on the plate and some chips got soggy.
My husband said his wings were fine but not worth the cost. Rooster’s is much better taste and price wise. I got the open-faced roast beef and it was supposed to be “covered with au jus”. That was not the case. The au jus was just placed in the bottom. The problem with this is that by the sixth bite all the juice had been sucked up by the bread. The beef was dry and salty and because the sauce was gone I had to stop eating. I got a container to go and stopped at Meijer on the way home to get additional gravy so I can finish the meal. I got onion rings for the side and they had been cooked too long.
The only reason this is not a 1 star review is because the waitress was friendly and kept the...
Read moreThe best sports bar in town. There is no place you look that doesn’t have a view of a TV. They have a nice patio. I consider myself a connoisseur of burgers and Banners is one of the best in Lexington. Also, don’t sleep on the tender melt. You don’t go to most sports bars for the food but Banners you do. They do bar food right. Food is high-quality and their daily specials show that there are real cooks in the kitchen. The service is beyond exceptional and I have been in there when it was standing room only and still got amazing/fast service. It is a well run, locally owned, family establishment. I have no hesitation taking my children in there to eat during the day and then going back in the evening with my buddies for live music. They also have one of the best bourbon selections in town. They have a package license so you can buy by the bottle. Best place to get allocated bourbon at fair prices. It is one of the most versatile bars. Depending on the time and the day it can be a family restaurant, great place to watch a game, small neighborhood bar, live music venue, a place to host a large group, and now it is my go to for Covid-19 take out and curbside pickup. Well run customer service...
