DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! We are a volleyball team who travels to Lexington for games often. We placed an online order for our team ONE HOUR and 20 MINUTES before we arrived. FYI, our order was for 13 people totaling about $150.

As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a middle aged blonde woman who looked at us with so much disdain and rather than welcoming us, or thanking us for our order, she simply barked “UGH it’s not ready yet.” With a very large eye roll. So we stood in the hall out of their way. At one point we were approached and were asked what name we’d like on the milkshake. We responded, “no need for a name, we’ll take it as is.” To which the employee replied: “ok good because this order has been a NIGHTMARE”

A nightmare?! Spending our hard earned money, to feed a wary team after being on the road for 5 hours and we are inconveniencing THEM?!

Finally, our order was brought to the counter by 2 other middle aged blondes and were greeted by even MORE attitude quoting: “here’s your EXTRA LARGE ORDER”

We smiled and took the food and thanked them, because unlike this establishment, we have class and manners.

Upon getting to our hotel, and opening the food, not only did they forget the milkshake, the “large sliced chicken tray” was insanely small for the price and very unfortunately, was dry and overcooked.

Never again will I bring my team here and neither will any team from my university. They just lost out on a great deal of...

I love diners and dives. When I first came to this area everyone said you got to try this place. I was very excited. However I don't know if they stopped using the wood but I didn't notice any smoke coming out of the restaurant. The barbecue did not taste like it was pit cooked more machine cooked and very sweet. I hope they are still using that massive pit in the kitchen but on this day didn't notice it being operated. Barbecue was noticeably sweet chicken did taste like it was cooked on a pit but was very dry. The food was not as good as Speedy number 8 barbecue. I would even rank Backcountry ahead of this place as far as food goes. They definitely get the customer service C awesome waitresses here. I feel it was kind of pricey but prices are going up everywhere. I cannot give it the cost-effective C. I definitely feel the restaurant was clean which is a good C for that cleanliness. I think the greatest thing I noticed here was the Colossal banana splits and ice cream sundaes. I saw several people just come in just for their ice cream. I think it might be the biggest banana split I've ever seen. I know my review is going to hurt a lot of Lexington fans but I wasn't that impressed with the barbecue. I wish they also offered ribs but they did not. I will say this they have their customer service down pat. May you seek your Lord and Savior Jesus...

So I want to preface this review by saying that the food was very good and the service was very attentive. My issue here is the amount of Styrofoam that we kept receiving on our table. I know it is difficult for restaurants to wash a lot of dishes and glasses, but we were each given a Styrofoam cup with water and then when my husband asked for a refill, they brought him yet another styrofoam cup and then they brought the barbecue sauce in a Styrofoam cup as well. We had a whole table full of Styrofoam. I’m just hoping that maybe they could put the barbecue sauce in a little dish and then wash it later. Use plastic glasses or glassware in the future. It was a lot of styrofoam.

Onto the food: I know the thing to get here is the barbecue, but I was really craving a chili slaw dog, and this one was very good. Lots of chili and slaw. Very generous on the toppings. My husband really liked his barbecue sandwiches as well. The fries were OK, And next time I would skip them in favor of ice cream. I wish I had not ordered the fries, because I was really craving ice cream, and I filled up too much on the fries!

The servers were...

Worst BBQ plate I've ever had. I'm not sure why the reviews are good or why this is #1 on Trip Advisor. The place is nice and clean, but the food was very disappointing. The coarse chopped BBQ tasted like something out of a Crock-Pot that hadn't been cooked long enough to be tender. It was chewy/rubbery and not at all fall-apart tender. The sauce had no flavor: not even the vinegar taste that North Carolina BBQ is famous for. The baked beans were Bush's baked beans straight out of the can and the potato salad tasted like something you'd pick up at Walmart in the prepackaged section. Their menu states that they have "homemade banana pudding", but I sat here and watched them make it with vanilla pudding STRAIGHT OUT OF A HUGE CAN. I guess home made means they cut the bananas in house? Not sure. I talked to the waitress about my concerns but she didn't even bother to tell a manager. I'm taking the meat home, maybe the dog will eat it. I paid $10.50 for it, might as well feed something with it. Comparing this place to Speedy Lore's down the road a ways, this place was completely substandard.
