From the beginning...my Wife and I awkwardly awaited a table. We stood between tables of diners and the bar because there was no where for patrons to wait comfortably as a table readied. We dodged service staff and apologized countless times to the diners upon which we danced around as though we were pinballs. Finally a table was ready for us and we took our seats after 30 minutes of doing The Bistro on Main shuffle. 10 minutes later we met our service provider and asked for drinks as we perused the limited menu. Not much of the typical fare one would expect from a "Bistro". I settled on The Bistro burger as I assumed this was a signature item and my Wife the Eggplant Parm. I found that any condiment outside lettuce and a single tomato would cost us extra...this is a $15 hamburger and the waitress couldn't tell me whether the beef was grain or grass fed. I couldnt for the life of me figure out why a burger and fries would cost $15, so the question bared asking if the beef was of high quality. Upon the first bite it was clear, this was a standard beef. The Eggplant Parm too was average. Nothing stood out from entry until exit. It is average at best and your time and money better served at one of Lexingtons better establishments. My advice to Mrs. Lupo would be to spend the money on food and service training and not the decor and ambiance because in the end, it will be the meal and service that is remembered. I will remember looking up at the ceiling and noticing the very outdated fire detector though. That piece of decor set well against the wanescotting. I expected better after reading many of...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I ate here recently. The inside of the restaurant is nice and somewhat cozy. There were not a lot of people there at the time so it wasn't noisy. The service was fine and cordial. For entrees he had the tomato basil soup which was more a bisque style. He enjoyed that dish. Next he ordered the gumbo and this is where it went downhill for his meal (I also tried it so I can confirm). First let me say I'm from southwestern MS near Louisiana so I know a little about gumbo. The first red flag was that there was no spoon with his dish. Instead of a more soup style which gumbo is (think of a flavorful seafood soup) the sauce was a thick gravy consistency. Actually it reminded me more of jambalaya with a gumbo sauce coloring if that makes sense. Also the rice was more of a gummy consistency. If parboiled rice was used that would not have been the case. That dish I would not recommend. If they cooked it from scratch while we were there then it is definitely not authentic . Preparing authentic gumbo is a lengthy process worth the time and effort. My dish was salmon (well done) with spinach and mashed sweet potatoes. The fish was juicy but I could tell the sauce drizzled over it was what gave it flavor to work with the entire dish. Side salads are side salads so not much to write about there. Overall if you go I do not recommend the gumbo particularly given the...
Read moreThe 1 star is for the rude management. I rate the food 2 stars; it is way overpriced for food that is no better than I can cook myself at home. The waitstaff was 5 stars. We had 2 families try to make online reservations for 10, but the app would not let us book. So we each made 2 separate reservations for 5. On the next business day, the other family called and spoke to someone and asked if they could seat the two reservations together and they agreed to (the management combined the two reservations). On the night of our reservation, the two families arrived on time and were seated together. 10 minutes later, my cellphone rings and it’s the manager, who berated me for not cancelling my reservation for a table of 5. I explained that I arrived on time and was already seated with my party. She hung up on me, then walked to within earshot of where we were seated and started badmouthing me to her waitstaff. After we finished eating, she made a point to come thank the two adults from the other family (sitting across the table from us) for coming and wished them a good night, she looked up at us, smirked and walked away without saying a word. I could overlook her conduct and return, but the food and prices are just not worth it (nearly $330 for 7 chicken and...
