My family and I have been eating here for nearly a decade, and when I say I have NEVER had a bad experience, I mean it. I’m very picky with my food and it takes one bad experience for me to never eat somewhere again because of that. The fact that I’m going on 10 years of eating here should be a sign of how amazing this place is. I legitimately eat here at least once, if not twice or three times a week. I’ve tried probably 3/4 of the menu over the past 9 years or so, and everything is amazing. The staff goes above and beyond to make your experience the best it can be. Not only that, but they are so personable and make it so clear that they care about your experience. Mexican food is my absolute favorite and I’ve probably been to hundreds of Mexican restaurants in my 22 years of life. I’m being 100% honest when I say if I had to eat only one restaurant’s food for the rest of my life, it would be El Charro. I’ve eaten at both locations and they NEVER fail to provide the best meal. Whether you are a Lexington local or are traveling, it would be a big mistake of yours to skip out on this...
Read moreListen, if El Charro were a person, I’d invite them to my wedding. That’s how good this place is. From the moment you walk in, the staff treats you like long-lost family—like your favorite aunt who always makes sure you’re fed, happy, and slightly too full.
The service? Unbelievable. I’ve had waiters refill my drink before I even realized I was thirsty. They’re like mind-readers with salsa.
Now let’s talk food—top-tier, flavor-packed, can’t-put-my-fork-down kind of good. The tacos could solve world problems. The enchiladas? Spiritual. And don’t even get me started on the guacamole—I’d bathe in it if it were socially acceptable.
The vibe? Bright, upbeat, and spotless. It’s so clean I’d eat off the floor (though I don’t have to, because they bring the food to the table like civilized legends).
El Charro isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a feel-good factory with tortillas. Highly recommend. 12/10, would eat here every day if my waistband...
Read moreTruly awful experience. We waited 20 minutes after our order was supposed to be ready for pickup before the hostess realized something was wrong. They did not have our order even though we used their website and were charged. Waited another 15 minutes while the hostess didn’t believe us and took a photo of the confirmation we received. Then another 10 minutes after they began to prepare the food. They barely apologized and only gave a very small portion of salsa as an apology...
And for the food... The rice and beans were barely warm while the chimichanga and quesadilla were very average. The salsa that they provided with chips was very bland and a little watery. I would rather have gone to Taco Bell for half the money and a tenth the amount of time.
I certainly wouldn’t waste my time at this restaurant and it makes me question whether I should even go to authentic Mexican restaurants. One star review is in fact generous based on...
