I'm sorry that I don't have any pictures to post. I'm terrible about remembering to take food pics.
First, I'm going to get the one and only negative thing out of the way and it's not even a negative to me personally, but some probably won't like the ambiance/atmosphere. The overhead lighting was a bit white and harsh, but they will turn it off if it bothers you and sometimes it's already off. The decor is really simple and clean.
Second and most important. The food is OUTSTANDING. I have been fortunate enough to dine at 'Everest Nepalese & Indian Cuisine' 4 times and REALLY fortunate to have been treated by friends/family each time.
I'm going to list the items that I've had, some of which I've only tasted. They are in no particular order of favorites, just in the order they are listed in the online menu; Chicken Chilli Momo. Chicken Chowmein. Garlic Naan. Chicken Vindaloo. Goat Rogan Josh. Chicken Tikka Masala. Lamb Tikka Masala. Lamb Korma. Chicken Karahi. Goat Curry. Butter Chicken.
The Chicken Chilli Momo/Dumplings are fantastic and a must order item. Oddly enough for me, one of my favorite things about them are the bits of tomato that is mixed in with them, they just paired well with the sauce. I tasted the Chicken Chowmein and it's good, just not something that I would order over some of the other dishes. The Garlic Naan is great and another must order item. I tasted the Chicken Vindaloo and again, it's good, but isn't my favorite. The Goat Rogan Josh was my first experience with Goat, EVER and I loved it. It wasn't "gamey" like some people say it is, at least not in the dish I had. It was super tender and delicious. The Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma and Butter Chicken are all excellent and I can't imagine anyone not loving them. Last, I tried the Chicken Karahi and once again, it's good, just not my favorite and probably not one that I would personally order.
If you like your food spicy, you better be sure about that. 😂 I like spicy food and level 2 is plenty for me. Any hotter and it just kinda takes away from the overall dish.
All 4 times EVERYONE enjoyed EVERYTHING! If you haven't been, I feel VERY comfortable and confident with recommending it. I feel like they have something for everyone, they even have several vegetarian options.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that the service, staff and management is also amazing.
RUN don't walk to Everest Nepalese & Indian Cuisine. You...
Read moreI was not prepared to find the best Nepalese and Indian food of my life in Lexington, Kentucky.
Grishna was a great hostess, and was fun to chat with about spice levels and travel. She also introduced me to possibly my new favorite pickle to enjoy with papadam at home!
This spot might not look like a lot from the outside, but the owners clearly cherish their space and all who visit; Walking in is like being transported to another country. Beautiful decor and stylish furniture; I would love to have a big family gathering or celebration here!
I'm visiting from Seattle for work, and found Everest via Happy Cow (an app that directs vegetarians and vegans to food, mostly while traveling in my experience), and saw that they had a huge vegetarian selection, including one of my Favorite things: Thalis!!
I started with a mango lassi that was like sipping sunshine (with the perfect amount of turmeric), crunchy vegetable pakoras dusted with tangy anchur, accompanied by the traditional green mint, as well as tamarind sauce. The sauces were both so vibrant in flavor and appearance, I'm sure they were made earlier today.
And then, the thali...I am still reeling from how good this was. Everything had extremely well balanced flavors, and a spice level of 3/5 was perfect for me. Thalis are a favorite because they're a little bit of everything: Crisp, bright, salad, bold savory lentils, tender spiced potatoes, perfectly fluffy jasmine rice, tangy pickle, a broccoli and cauliflower curry, crunchy papadam, and sweet gulag jamun steeped in heavenly cardamom syrup... you name it, this was absolutely perfect. The contrast was just superb.
My one regret was tackling this alone, but now I have the best leftover vegetarian breakfast waiting for me!
Thanks...
Read moreTo begin with, if there was an option to give 0 stars, I would have done that. The food and service here was appalling. Being an Indian and knowing what Indian food is, I can say honestly that this place is disgusting. Starting with the service, no water was served to us and we had to request for drinking water. We ordered combo steamed momos for appetizer and it was below average but I could have it just because I was starving. We then ordered Kadai Paneer and Veg korma with garlic naan. We got our food after 30-45 mins. The garlic naan was burnt like activated charcoal, and the korma had broccoli in it. The kadai paneer came after we finished our food and they seriously did not know how to cook it. It felt like they added raw veggies in tomato soup, sprinkled some chaat masala, microwaved it and served it to us. We also ordered salt lassi but is has enormous amounts of salt in it. It had a lot of lumps in them. We asked them to replace and it stayed the same. Overall we just ate to fill our tummy as we were really tired after hiking. In the end we spoke to the manager about everything but it did look like he listened our feedback just for the sake of listening. In and out in a casual way. We asked the manager if we can talk to the chef but he did not let us do that. He mentioned that the chef has 23 years experience in cooking Indian food, but I believe he has no idea how to cook Indian food. I really want the chef and the manager to come to my house and I can show what Indian food is. In the end I can say that the food was not even 1% close to Indian food and I don’t understand why the place has high reviews. Honestly think about going to place unless there’s no other...
