I never review things, but l think the owner should take note. After or even rather during my experience, l started reading reviews and mine will mimic others. Exceptionally long wait between any service other than being seated. Restaurant was dead which surprised me for the time and a holiday weekend. So as to why things took so long no reasoning there. Once my food came it was wrong, l had taken my little one to the restroom to which was like the whole restaurant (dirty) trash and food up the stairs. Our food was left on the table so l didn't see the waitress again to let her know. I was traveling through so after an already long wait l said screw it and ate it anyway, sandwich was hot, fries super cold? I never saw the waitress again until l was 3/4 done and just let her know...I'm not easily bent out of shape about things, but asked just for chips to not pay for fries upgrade, she quickly rushed away and said I'll get more fries...at this point l didn't want them, just thought I'd take chips to go for my little one. So now I'm completely done eating, fries come out super hot outside, cold in the middle. I had already, when ordering before, ordered food to go, when l went to eat our sandwiches the following day...same story as another gentleman...2 slices of roast beef on each sandwich. It's so unfortunate because the location is so cool, and l love Macados. I frequent Farmville (They get always right) as well as Harrisonburg, and Blacksburg. Beckley suffered the fate this one will if it continues to service like this. I had stopped at Lexington 3 years ago and had a similar experience...was seated upstairs, restaurant was dead and l twice had to go find my server. Nothing has changed in this time period or supposed new management...won't return...
Read moreWe always come here when at Horse Shows at the nearby horse center. It’s truly sad to see a nice reliable place to have a meal in Lexington, has totally gone downhill. Through no fault of the owners or management, we now live in a world full of individuals, who thanks to the federal government, find it much easier to stay at home and collect unemployment. As we entered the restaurant this evening the phone rang off the hook the entire 70 minutes as we waited patiently for a table. Nearby tables sat uncleared full of dirty dishes and leftover food. There appeared to be only 4 individuals working in a crowded restaurant full of patrons. An older woman was busy waiting on tables on the first floor and a cook was visible from our view at the front door, an impolite young lady proceeded to tell us after an hour plus wait, that unfortunately last call was at 7:30 and they would not be able to seat or feed us (party of 3). Several seconds later, a young server bounced down the stairs and said that she wasn’t sure what the other young woman had told us, but that she would be happy to seat and serve us. The reason that I gave 5 star review above was based entirely on the service of this young woman, Taylor G. The owners and the management should give Taylor a HUGE raise and treat her with the upmost respect! In a world of slackers, this young woman went above and beyond and is the ONLY thing at this establishment that appeared to be working other than the cook and waitress on the first floor. She had been working non-stop since 11:00 am that morning and was cleaning up the piles of dishes on nearby tables as we walked out the door at 9:00 pm. Based on her work ethics and attitude, Taylor will go far in life and should be...
Read moreWe got lucky with street parking. I had not looked close enough to know this was a downtown city street location before going there.
You can tell this is a bar by the smell when you walk in the door. Behind bars can be nastier than kitchens. I suspect this is not the cleanest place, but I didn't look at the health department score if there was one.
We were here for lunch. It took a fairly long time for the sandwiches we ordered to be served. They weren't packed or anything, just sort of an average "busy". I ordered a beer that was forgotten, and only arrived because my wife asked them about it while I was in the bathroom...I was just going to skip it at that point, but I didn't realize the sandwiches would take so long, so at least I had that to sip on.
A lot of menu choices, especially for sandwiches. We did enjoy our sandwiches. I had the Little Italy and it was definitely stacked with meat as they advertise. My wife had the Ragtime and said she didn't notice that "crispy bacon" that was supposed to be on there, but overall the sandwich was tasty.
They could use a bit of renovation and cleaning. My wife commented that the route we were told to take to the bathroom, passing the kitchen made our shoes greasy.
So...at least the two sandwiches we had were good, but good sandwiches can be had in a lot of restaurants. The service was not bad except that forgotten beer that took a while and the slow pace the food was actually served; but had they been actually busy (only a few people at the bar eating at the time) I can imagine it could get worse.
We will not be going out of our way again...
